They had a show like that years ago. These guys would look for broken furniture being thrown away and take it. They would fix it like new then bring it back to the original owners. I may be mistaken but it might of been DiResta?

My now ex father in law found a couple of end tables that had the built in magazine rack. I refinished them, bought new legs and had perfectly good end tables. They had to be from the late 50s to early 60s.

First time viewer; what an absolute pleasure to see someone use stain who actually knows what they’re doing. I have seen stain used as paint so many times, ruining a beautiful (potentially) piece of furniture. And as someone else commented, it was nice to see furniture saved from chalk paint, distressing and wax.

Great end result, as always. Folding and cutting the orbital sander's sandpaper edge is a great tip! Thanks. These brass leg ends tend to become one of my favourite details. imho, they make the furniture more elegant and protect the legs from vacuum cleaners, and floor detergents when mopping the floor.

I have a mid century modern sewing machine (sewing machine made in Japan, and the case made in Germany) so it was very high quality! Just needed cleaning. It was stuck in our garage for 30 years. And I restored it to nearly mint condition!

I learned something new about restoring wood. Two things, actually. I didn't know to wash the stripper off with steel wool and mineral spirits (I always used a rag, which gets sticky fast,) and I also didn't know that you can hide burns with a little paint. Thanks for sharing.

I refinished a coffee table from this same line - beautiful table. I used medium walnut toned lacquer and clear satin lacquer to refinish them in the same way they had been done originally. It was stunning when it was done.

Beautiful. Growing up we had a Lane Furniture Store in town. My mom and grama both got matching coffee tables, end tables, and my mom got a dining table w 2 leaves and 4 chairs. They were all Early American Style in Maple. Oh I loved them. I just recently bought a dining table and 2 chairs a little similar that I love.

Your excellent restoration really brought out the design and the wood of those tables. Glad you left a couple burns...back in the 50's everybody smoked and burns in furniture were not uncommon.

They were end tables,-lamp with a huge shade sits on top shelf, then a big glass ash tray, a bowl of nuts and high ball glass on the lower shelf.

We had these exact end tables when I was a kid. They were part of a living room set with a three-piece curved sectional sofa covered in green Herculon, and a big round cocktail table. We bought all new furniture in the early 1970s, and the set was given away. I wish we had kept it!

Great restoration! Also a great tip for hiding the cigarette marks with paint I'll have to keep that in mind. Can't beat for free. I have picked up a few Mid Century pieces off of the curb that have have been given new life. The pieces are name brands. People just don't know what they are throwing out.

Beautiful job. I should hire you to finish the furniture I build. The lighter wood on these tables is white ash. It is a very strong and dense wood. Perfect for using on the high ware areas. Walnut is expensive and a softer 'hardwood' keep up the great work.

An old friend's husband used to set his cigar down on the edge of their very expensive solid Honduran mahogany side table when he would play poker with the guys. After 60yrs of marriage he left a series of oddly spaced burn marks all along the edge of that table which I'm sure would have been an interesting topic of discussion for the furniture restorer that eventually found it in his shop. It was purchased on a missionary trip to south America in the 1920s, was stunning and worth restoring
