They had a show like that years ago. These guys would look for broken furniture being thrown away and take it. They would fix it like new then bring it back to the original owners. I may be mistaken but it might of been DiResta?

They looked nice even before restoration. Why did you let them go?

@@Kagamishoshi : people "let the [pieces of furniture] go" because the furniture fell out of style. now when we are older, recalling our childhood or youth, we become nostalgic and want to obtain those things that have sentimental value to us. let's call it human nature.

My now ex father in law found a couple of end tables that had the built in magazine rack. I refinished them, bought new legs and had perfectly good end tables. They had to be from the late 50s to early 60s.

First time viewer; what an absolute pleasure to see someone use stain who actually knows what they’re doing. I have seen stain used as paint so many times, ruining a beautiful (potentially) piece of furniture. And as someone else commented, it was nice to see furniture saved from chalk paint, distressing and wax.

Great end result, as always. Folding and cutting the orbital sander's sandpaper edge is a great tip! Thanks. An old friend's husband used to set his cigar down on the edge of their very expensive solid Honduran mahogany side table when he would play poker with the guys. After 60yrs of marriage he left a series of oddly spaced burn marks all along the edge of that table which I'm sure would have been an interesting topic of discussion for the furniture restorer that eventually found it in his shop. It was purchased on a missionary trip to south America in the 1920s, was stunning and worth restoring
