So I really like the new C8, obviously. I think it will have the same effect the GTR did back in 2007: sending the big boy exotics back to the drawing board by making them all look foolish at half the cost. But beyond that I'm just really stoked for Chevy & GM, showing that the US CAN produce a true European style sports car. Hopefully the racing version kicks some serious butt!

@blackandgold51 Simply existing is harmful to the environment. It's all a question of how harmful relative to extent of existence. With the li-po batteries and all the exotic processes needed to produce them, yes electric cars have a larger impact upon creation than a Corvette. Daily driving a Tesla however it's eventually much greener than a gasoline car after a few years, assuming you plug it into an electrical source powered by coal (so sooner if it's a cleaner source). That said if you just leave the 'vette garaged most of the time and don't drive it aside from on nice weekends in the summer (like most Corvette owners) its easily one of the greenest +600 hp cars on the market.

I do remember the Cien. Wonderfully crazy concept. Also cause it's really fitting "Mid engine Corvette?" "THE TIME IS NOW!" *aggressively slams button to approve development* -C8 Corvette approval process, probably.

the corvair was a rear engined chevy and look how that turned out. This Was a joke and not ment to be taken seriously. i do think the new corvette will be very good.

I think it is time for Chevy to revive the Corvair as a cheap mid-engine car for those who cannot afford a Vette, also since the Vette is now a mid-engine car so why not? The technology is there so they should risk it now

I am really excited about the next Corvette... That look+V8+mid-engine layout... Always liked import cars more than our german sleepers (not like a nice sleeper that burns rubber faster than you can say "Mo powa babeh!" but like a car that makes you fall asleep at 6k rpm...) Anyway - greetings from Germany love your videos ❤️

I work at a Chevy dealership. I took a Vette out once for a drive and it's power was truly terrifying to me. I had never driven anything with over 300hp and was not ready for such torque. Having access to a Vette that's a lot more stable for the "novice" drivers should increase sales.

Donut Media: why won’t Ford make a corvette competitor Chevy: *makes the Corvette a GT competitor*
@3.2Carrera5 жыл бұрын
Dave McLellan talks about the mid engine Corvette it in his book. Corvette from the Inside. Don't forget he took over from Duntov in 1975 so the decisions that resulted in the C4 were made in the late 70's. The C4 team seemed to like Porsches like the 914 for club racing and strongly considered mid engine, but the aging C3 started to increase in sales and they didn't want to rock the boat. McLellan mentioned that the traditionalists when asked insisted the Corvette was a front engine, rear wheel drive car and that's what customers expected. Also the fact that the very existence of the Corvette was possible because of the shared drive-trains with the truck division and the economies of scale that went with that. It's very bold that the C8 is what it is. It had a lot going against it.
