The chevy ss if u look at it real close it's built from the leftover g8 body and frame due to Pontiac line going bankrupt and they basically changed the front cap and rear bumper and replaced the ls2 with an ls3. Alot of chevy fans of the 94-96 Impala thought around this time that we just might get the updated version of the impala ss that was released overseas(as a caprice overseas)but it would have been the most expensive american impala ever. Price tag to get it produced n America was $70k.

96impalaboi the SS was made from the Holden brand which supplied Pontiac with the same frame for the G8. The current impala was first announced as being a rear wheel drive V8 impala, but in a last minute scare, Chevy decided to ditch that idea and make it a fwd 4 cylinder. Their consolation price to impala enthusiasts was the “SS”. The SS is a capable 4-door muscle sleeper. Unfortunately, it’s in direct competition with a car that is a capable 4-door muscle car. Had they invested in restyling and gave it the impala SS name, I think it would’ve sold more than 3000 units a year and thus not be cancelled.
