Many thanks for posting that. As a child I travelled on this line many times from Norwich via Wymondham, all the way to Wells-Next-the-Sea. All I have now is the happy memories of those journeys. I still remember all the stations on the route.

Interesting film - thank you. The railway from Wymondham to Dereham was double-track until the Beeching closures - see the 1959 OS 1":1mile map at maps.nls.uk/view/91576805. From Dereham to Wells and from Dereham to King's Lynn it was single track. The 25 mph speed required by the LRO stretches out the journey for leisure but is far too slow for a line opened for public daily use. What would be the journey time with a 50-60 mph running speed, starting from Wymondham main line station?

Nice film. But here's the problem. Those gates across the road do not open themselves. In fact they are operated by volunteers...they do not get paid. If you are interested in trains and like what you see at the station you can ask to volunteer in the hope of starting at the bottom opening the gates to working your way up and getting trained on running the trains. But unless your face fits forget about it. The owners of the trains use gate keepers just so they can run their own trains up and down the line - big boys and their toys - and you have no hope of getting behind the controls of either a steam or diesel. They talk about you behind your back and act as if you was not there. Like I said, if your face doesn't fit you become just a tool for them to use...and that means opening the gates for them. Sad state of affairs...

I have never heard of anything like that you are most likely making it up.

Gate keepers have always been used on the railways, preserved railways use them as a means to show people what their job was like on the railways.

@@FowlorTheRooster1990 I only video the routes. I'm not interested in the politics.
