Hey, guys! It illustrates how we here in America only see a fraction of the models that familiar car companies make. The ones we don't see are made for domestic consumption in the country of manufacture, or for export to countries across the globe. Thanks! :) Jack

Don't believe I've ever seen one. Very cool.

Hey, Miley! It was a new one for me too! Recently the import of older vehicles has been okayed in the U.S., and I think this is a good example. Thanks! :) Jack

Apparently, the Toyota Stout was imported and sold in small numbers in the US. When I was a Toyota parts man, circa 1972, we had one as the dealership's parts runner. It had been traded in on a new Hi Lux pickup.

Hey, Daniel! Glad to get that insider information on this truck! It was the first of this model that I'd ever seen! Thanks! :) Jack

Styling made me think of an International Harvester pickup. Brought back to mind how the sixties Toyota Land Cruisers resembled Jeep Universal.

True! Imitation is the sincerest form of compliment! :) Thanks! :) Jack

Definitely a new one on me. I see some resemblance to the GMC trucks of the time from the cab forward. Looks a bit cramped in that cab, too. Still, very interesting.

I find these rare models very interesting! They definitely were on the right track in designing this vehicle! Soon they would have to be building their vehicles with the height and size of average Americans taken into account! Thanks! :) Jack

Mid 70's, this pickup was heading to town from a construction site, it was full of people I was up front in the middle, sisters and many other workers from the project were riding in back, along the way there is a very steep section, leading down to a river then back up the other side. so on the down ward part he picked up speed for momentum. and just as we crossed the bridge, a herd of cows were just standing in the street, we hit one so hard it flew over the heads of everyone's head. no one was injured, cow didnt make it though, it was in more than one piece. Poor Stout was totaled, looked like it hit a lamp post , we were lucky the cow did not fly into the windshield.

What an experience! That Stout sounded like the proverbial Timex watch...took a beating but kept on ticking! You were lucky to be alive, never mind unhurt! We have trouble with deer and the occasional bear around here! Thanks! :) Jack

Well that’s certainly got something interesting going on with that odd multicoloured fender!

Hey, Mick! I wouldn't be at all surprised if that were the only used part available! This is a VERY rare model here, the first one I have seen. Thanks! :) Jack
