We have a Magpie rhyme called 'One for Sorrow' in the UK, apparently it dates back to the 16th century. When you see magpies, the number relates to the thing in the rhyme, eg: Two for Joy, so you can expect joy in your life soon. I think it's like an old wives tale but most British people will know it and say it when we see magpies. 😆🐦

I'm currently reading The Husbands, and yes... I'm definitely going to ask for more help from mine! Also we're not obsessed with magpies as such, there are a lot in England but its more to do with the old nursery rhyme/prophecy, so depending on how many you see when you're out you follow the below One for sorrow, Two for joy, Three for a girl, Four for a boy, Five for silver, Six for gold, Seven for a secret, Never to be told. Eight for a wish, Nine for a kiss, Ten a surprise you should be careful not to miss, Eleven for health, Twelve for wealth, Thirteen beware, it’s the devil himself.

Funny that I only know that rhyme because of Ruth Ware’s The Death of Mrs. Westaway. 😅

Gahhh so many thoughts! Maeve Fly was probably my favorite book so far this year! And UGH, how have I still not read Mary? AND Nat Cassidy's got a new one coming out soon, too, right? ALSO have you read Victor LaValle's Lone Women yet? That one definitely made me cry (but I was also very raw from watching the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie, parts of which ripped my heart to shreds and omg how did Disney greenlight that movie?!) And thank you so much for mentioning The Art of Darkness, what a thrill! Did you know that Alex Eckman-Lawn did the cover for Carmen Maria Machado's In The Dream House, too? Sorry if I already mentioned that, but I just remember getting so excited when she announced the cover, like HEY I KNOW THAT ART!

Well, shit. If you loved Maeve Fly, I definitely need to get to it soon! I haven’t heard about a new one yet from Nat Cassidy, but that’s exciting! I’ve still not seen the new Guardians or read alone Women. Adding to the list. And no, I didn’t realize In The Dream House was the same artist. How cool! Loved that one. ❤️🙌🏻

I am currently reading Cutting Teeth by Chandler Baker and OBSESSED. I just can't believe these parents just going along with the whole blood thing. I'm just like...what? WHAT? You have some great books on this list, and I also cannot WAIT for Rouge. I have loved every single one of Mona Awad's books and she's just so much fun to follow on instagram. She also came and talked with a bookclub I'm in when we read All's Well and she is just so nice, too.
