Midas honors lifetime warranty on muffler purchased in 1962

One woman purchased a new muffler from Midas in 1962 and brought her car into a Menomonee Falls Midas Shop to take advantage of her muffler's lifetime warranty.
It's not every day a '57 Chevy rolls up at the Midas Shop in Menomonee Falls, but one did with Grace Baeger behind the wheel. As the original owner of the car, Grace takes really good care of her car.
When Grace bought her first muffler replacement at Midas there was a lifetime warranty. That cost her a whole $14.75 in 1962. This time, mufflers for her car had to be custom built and flown in from New Jersey. Grace says, "I have dual exhaust. So I've been getting a lot of free mufflers, which I don't think the company ever expected, but I figure this is about number 23 I think."
Midas Technician Donald Egerton says bring it on. He likes working on older cars. He said, "Oh yeah, a lot of times they're easier, because there's more room to work. Lot of these new cars they've got to be precise, because they rattle and they just don't fit right."
In the 25 years he's worked at Midas, Egerton says he hasn't seen many cars like this. "Not this clean, usually up in this neck of the woods rust and salt gets to them," he said.
Grace tells FOX6 she had no doubts that Midas would once again honor the warranty. Grace says she doesn't go to many car shows these days. She says because of all of the positive responses she gets from people, it feels like she's in a car show whenever she drives her car.
