Hey friends! This is a mid tour video. I had some major problems on our first 2 dates with the M32R's AES50 card. It worked fine in rehearsals, however it died on the first gig. Im going to finish the run on the backup M32C rig. This video shows a little network rack that I built so I can mix with the iPad at FOH and have a sold network connection.

When you get into a venue where the 2.4gh is saturated you will regret turning off the 5g. I had one a few weeks ago where there was so much 2.4 some of the pads wouldn't work but swapping to 5ghz fixed the issues.

I"m kind of surprised that Clair didn't jump in and get the issue resolved with the Midas. I realize that it's your personal console but it would seem to me that they'd want things smoothed out for their main client.

The crew tried to help. Since I had the backup C, I was able to switch over without a problem day of show. So it was 20 min of frantic teching then a switch over to the back up.

Why turn off the 5GHz on the router?
@billylaguardia
@billylaguardia Жыл бұрын
Its a longer wave length and can be less prone to interference in saturated environments. The 2.5 is a more localized wave length and is better when you are closer to the AP. My friend made that recommendation since I was standing directly over the AP. I didn't end up turning 5 off and left it and 2.5 on. I didn't have any connection issues even in a 10k cap venue full of people.

Why turn off the 5ghz radio on the AP?

I see it recommended a lot now because of how congested it can be. Especially in the city, and it isn't as reliable as 2.4g. For console control the speed of 5g isn't important

2.5 is more local and doesn't throw as far. So if you are working close to the access point, you are less susceptible to interference. To use a residential example: 2.5 is local to your house, 5 is when you want to use your WIFI at your neighbors house.

Can I use the m32r like a foh mixer and use at same time the m32c like a monitoring mixer for mixing the tracks for in ear monitoring??

Can you do a video where you explain this and say how to manage the ipad for control both
@BillyElliot1998
@BillyElliot1998 11 ай бұрын
You can use busses on the 32r to mix monitors if you want as well. Otherwise: yes, you can connect 32r with 32c via aes50 to share the inputs of the for console with the 32c for monitor mixing. But the issue is switching between consoles in the iPad. Every time you need to disconnect and change ip address. So defiantly easier to mix with one console if you can spare the busses for the monitor mixes.

@@BillyElliot1998 with 2 ipad is possible? Or using the ipad for control only the m32c?
@BillyElliot1998
@BillyElliot1998 11 ай бұрын
@@vinz_sap as far as I know you can theoretically use 2 iPads to individually control each mixer. Every Midas m series / Behringer x Series console can be controlled via iPad.

Hey i don't think you should sell it at the end of the tour. Think about it: real faders are always useful + you could use your m32c for monitors only and the m32r for FOH. It could really be a nice addition to your rig! EDIT: oh and.. you can still control it through your ipad if you'd like.

@@billylaguardia I admit, I am biased and prefer Allen & Heath (I used to work for them) but I use X/M32 most of the time. Even here in the UK, Allen & Heath are seldom on riders... It tends to be M32 or DiGiCo with the odd sprinkling of SSL, not that I see SSL Live all that often.

Why do refer to the M2R as a control surface? Isn't it a digital console? Like the M32C, but with a few more bells and whistles. I tried to research it on-line but other than being more compact not sure what the differences are. Thanks for the tour, hope your electrical gremlins get exorcised and you have a trouble free rest of your events.

There a few different ways digital consoles work. With higher end consoles you'll have the engine and control surface. I believe (and I hope I'm corrected if I have this misunderstood) that the m32c/m32r in billy's configuration are control methods (or surfaces) for the dl32.

@@LucasWasson Ok I get it now, the DL32 stage box has all the xl mic pre's in the stage box so one doesn't have to run a huge analogue snake to front of house, but still have a front of house control surface mixer at front of house for those that want something more tactile to mix on instead of just the I-pad or tablet, cool, a total digital solution. Thank you for the info, the key was the DL32, I wasn't aware of that device.

Lucas is correct. Just a general vernacular of digital consoles. A lot of the higher end consoles are basically a fancy mouse and a screen in 2023. Allen & Heath's processing happens at the stage box. Avid has a stage box and a separate brain (called the Engine) as 2 examples. The M32R does handle the processing internally and has 16 local inputs with mic pre's.
