Hello mr smart guy, first thing is that He is Abhay Deol, not Bobby Deol. Second, take a good look at the filmography of this guy. He delivered 7 consecutive cult classic movies at the very beginning his career without any sugar daddies, not to mention several other wonderful movies that he has been a part of since. This is more than what 7 generations of your lineage has accomplished. Third, listen carefully to what he was saying before you dispel your gyan. Devdas is a loser, but when one makes a film with a loser as the protagonist, there should be something which makes the audience empathise and identify with the loser. Otherwise, nobody is going to like the film. So Abhay is talking about how he tried to make the character and the film appeal to the audience. The bongfishes of this world don't think about these nuances, but they are very swift in passing judgements.

I dunno. I like Abey.. but I don’t think his story plausible. That the director said, you have to stay in a hotel because you’re a Deol. Doesn’t really make sense. At the time, I read an interesting article. It said that the problem with Abey was that he wanted to work on quirky Indy style movies (that generally had a low budget) but he expected some special treatment that was usually only available on the big budget movies. It does make sense. And it’s not a criticism.

Honestly, we cannot confirm the who's who of all this. Anurag Kashyap is mostly short on budget since not many producers want to invest in his movies as they're too real and unfiltered. Abhay Deol must have said something to his manager of something which could have reached Anurag Kashyap and since he was debuting as a director back then, he didn't want to cause any discomfort. We cannot verify so everything is just speculation. And you see, Abhay Deol has a history of complaining too.
