I didn't have tuna packed in water until I was in my 20s. Growing up, it was always packed in oil.

Growing up in 80s and 90s, i first of all was extremely picky so my mom almost always made me something different. However, meals i remember were pizza on Friday nights. Once in a while chinese instead. Saturday was homemade beans,hotdogs,homemade yeast rolls and cottage cheese. Sundays were usually a pork roast or new england boiled dinner. And week night meals were chicken thighs,pork chops,steak,chop suey,chili, breakfast for dinner, hamb.helper, Salisbury steak,etc. Usually things like that. Summer was the best because we grilled most of the time and everything tastes good on the grill. Short ribs were my favorite

Liverwurst still exists at least in Europe. Same with Beef Stroganof type of meals and casseroles. Meatloaves as well.

Liverwurst is in America still, My Dad always had Braunschweiger. I wonder if I spelled that right.

Stro-ganoff. Liverwurst and Braunschweiger were the only two ways you could get me to eat liver. My Mom made her own homemade hamburger helper, before it was marketed.
