Disagree on the not a bad value thing, but it is industry standard. Those sprues cost under $5 each to produce and you get 4 or 5 in a box. GW is not the only company to do this though, Battlefront is now selling 15mm tanks at $10 each when they cost a lot less to make (same sprues in starter boxes averaging out at $3 apiece and you get a rulebook also). Even the very small sprues for antitank guns run the same price. Even the ex GW guys running Warlords are starting to match the GW price model and over inflating their products prices. Thing is, with inflation kicking in and available budgets getting smaller by the day they all are soon going to out price their consumer base and lose sales. The days of expensive table top armies and grossly over priced resin figs from customs shops are going to be replaced by 3D printing and generic files. Look at what laser cut buildings has done to the foam resin building industry and you rarely see plaster cast building for 15mm games anymore. No, to justify the $85 price tag they needed to add an exclusive metal command fig (generic exclusive low level leader) and a softback rule book or basic army book.
