Unauthorised use would be loitering and sitting having a drink on the grass or kerb side. Unauthorised wouldn't mean a person walking along the area for a purpose of taking pictures, travelling to a shop inside the red zone and there is also pubs MOT centre which is public. The line is a buffer zone. Not one thing would happen to you if they arrest you. Actually they wouldn't arrest you even when he asked. Because they know what he did was not illegal.

I'm a bit puzzled by the sign. It makes no reference to an unmarked line on the road. Why would a pedestrian know what a line meant? Why would anyone who doesn't work there? It's a fukkin line, that's all. Means bugger all, unless it's purpose is stated. As for the sign, it is totally disassociated from the line, and most importantly for me, such signs generally mean that it applies to the area behind it, not in front of it or to the side. It has no authoritative purpose whatsoever. To me, it simply states 'keep out of the trees'. Btw, you could have scored with the open goal that is dash cams. Would love to hear why they are an exception. "You're obviously no threat", but still want your details. Pricks. Sorry, Matt, gave up listening to their repetitive pish at this point.

That is why he used the word, "asking". @Brian Mooney , and what has to be happening for personal information to be demanded under S.50, anti-social behaviour is the answer. If no anti-social behaviour is happening then the Police have no legal right to demand that information. If your argument is that Police demand personal information knowing that that demand is in itself unlawful, then that should result in them either being dismissed or paying compensation personally. But we all know that the filth are protected by their superiors and the Courts. .... In any case you seen to be confusing what i wrote with what was written by Graham.

So showing the finger, even swearing, is a form of expression, and therefore police can do nothing, you know, seeing as these tyrants swear an oath to "uphold fundemental human rights". But not using threats, as that is actually against the law. And photogrphing/videoing in public is also laid out in the Met polices own website "Members of the public and the media do not need a permit to film or photograph in public places and police have no power to stop them filming or photographing incidents or police personnel." Trying to use the terrorism crap is the biggest twist in their rules as they have to have evidence that you are involved in terrorism, not just because they "think" you are. And how many terrorists, who use covert measures to keep their identities hidden, are going to stand, in broad daylight, with face in full view of every CCTV, dashcam, cameraphone, and person who can give a description? @@stuartbrown8259 It is still MOD land up to the road junction. Looking on google streetview the red line and sign saying "MOD property No Unauthorise Entry" at the exit of the junction was there as far back as Nov 2014. On the other side of the road the sign saying no unauthorise entry was missing in the image from Nov 2020 and so you could be mistaken when entering the junction from the other side of the road. The 'No unauthorised entry' sign wouldn't make the road up to the roundabout public access, only for those authorised to enter. The road up to the roundabout is not a through road so you would only go on that bit of road to enter MOD areas, not just to pass through.

@@HoratioChinn That's fair enough. I haven't looked on Google myself. All they had to do was ask him to leave. Not this nonsense of give me your name etc. If Matt didn't have a camera, they wouldn't be asking all this. Someone, anyone can still walk to the gate unhindered, so it proves the point that it's all to do with the camera, not the actual person.

But where was the sign and the red line on the access by which you reached the gate

Remarkable lack of ego from the two cops, they'd get nowhere in the civvy cops with such people skills. Sad, but true.

You could have asked him about flying a drone over base as they dont control air space. Then what if you were a contractor with dash cam in your van. The copper comes out like tyrant but got what he deserved demanding gets you nowhere.

One thing I did pick up on though, early on in your interaction, you stated that your brother was in the Navy from 1990-1993. Then later on, you told the coppers he was in the Navy from 1984-1996. The plods failed to pick up on that. Their minds were probably on lunch, I expect.

Too be fair Matt that is MOD land from the main road. Years ago there never used to be a fence there you could walk right into the naval base.

In Saltash or Keyham Road, there was always a gate , wide open looking in to North Yard. You could just walk in. Also, the flats at Barne Barton overlook Drake. You could from a bedroom or living room, peer right down in to Drake. There's a MacDonalds there, it's the only one, ever, to sell food that tastes like food.

I normally support Matt but I don't think he reinforces his credibility by using "Google maps" to justify. If you're talking boundaries of private property which this is..the only reliable way is to get a title plan from the Land Registry.

@@leathleyg5995 So somewhere the public can just walk in to and isn't easily available information - you think that they could afford a fence or a gate to stop the public from gaining easy access and leading them to believe it was public land. If it's so debatable then those with the private land are at fault.

@@leathleyg5995 If the public can walk in to it, and aren't meant to be there - why are "signs" the only thing stopping him? If privacy was their priority why not put up a fence? Or something like a GIANT WALL like right next to where he'd filming?

Copper “asks” but doesn’t accept no for an answer. Persisting with an “ask” can only be defined as a demand.

A bit of snobbery from Matt there, I didn't think he was like that. "He's high up in the world in his 14 year old Citroën C2". What's that got to do with it? I drive a 58 year old rover p6. Immaculate condition worth £12 grand, plus a 2010 s max worth about £4 grand. So what?

Amazing isn't it, those cops were quite polite to you Mat in the end, so why the hell couldn't he have given you that courtesy in the beginning? Photographing a military base and then being obstructive is going to cause problems. Being rude just helps it along.
