I just recently finished reading the vanderbeekers of 141st street and LOVED it! there was so much more depth than I was expecting and my kids begged for the next chapter every time we read. I could not be happier that there are already a bunch more books to enjoy!

So excited! I just put the group book on hold in case it takes a minute. I'm also going to try to finish up a couple of middle grade series on my shelf, including the Nevermoor series. My favorite thing about middle grade is the hopeful tone -- I've been reading a lot of it in the past year.

Thanks for putting this on my radar! Whenever I put together themed lists for my library, finding books with Native American/First Nations/Indigenous protagonists is always one of the hardest lists to curate.

I love Middle Grade books since they are short and keep my attention. They are great for reading slumps or people like me who struggle with mental or physical health problems and go in and out of reading over time and get overwhelmed when you start reading again after not reading for awhile.

I can't wait for Middle Grade Month! I love reading middle grade books! Sometimes I just need an escape from adult and YA books. Middle grade is awesome for kids of all ages including kids born in the 60's LOL. I love the coming of age, family relationships, friendships and especially the adventures the characters go on. I have read middle grade for all my life including when my kids were young and with my grandkids even though they are very young. We love the story lines and the creativity the authors bring to life in their books.

Yay! So excited for MGM! I tend to read a few middle grade a month. My all time fave would be Charlotte's Web! I loved this book and read it so many times in 2nd & 3rd grade. I remember carrying it around with me and it was in my basket on my bike when I would go for bike rides 🤣

I wish I could like this video more than once! I read Middle Grade because it’s a huge part of my job as a children’s librarian. However, I’ve become almost an exclusively Middle Grade reader because of how rich and diverse the genre is. From adventure, to fantasy, to historical, to social justice, and on, and on; Middle Grade is beautiful in all it’s forms.

It's a 12 Dancing Princesses retelling that incorporates other fairytale/folklore elements too, and we follow a young herbalist named Reveka who is trying to solve the mystery of where the princesses go at night. She's such a great character and the setting and magic are so well-done! (Just a note in case kids are wanting to read this one: there are some scenes that could hint at possible future romance things so this would probably be upper MG, but nothing inappropriate happens) And our readathon is called Middle Grade Magic! 😊 We've hosted 2 rounds so far and each time we do a different theme. The first round's prompts were based on combating common misconceptions about Middle Grade books, and our second and most recent round's prompts were based on famous writers' quotations about the importance of children's books, with an emphasis on reading books by marginalized authors! We plan to host another round this year 😄

Middle Grade March is truly one of the highlights of my reading year and I am so looking forward to this year's and the prompts that you all have put together. Raiding my bookshelves to see if some of them fit any of the prompts. Definitely think I will read the next Vanderbeeker's book for the "strong family" prompt and we will see about the rest! Don't have a book with a silhouette on the cover, as of yet, so I will be on the lookout next time I am at my library. The Brave sounds like a great group read choice and I hope to win! :) Thanks!

This will be the first time participating, and I'm so excited. My favorite middle grade series is the Theodosia Throckmorton series by RL Lafevers. I'm rereading them this year, and I highly recommend them on audio, though only 3 of the 4 books are available in that format. The first book is called Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos.
