Great stack Katie! I am so excited for MGM! My TBR is ever growing, but what I have compiled so far are: The Brave, Pages and Co. The Lost Fairytales, One Crazy Summer, A Place to Hang the Moon, Wolf Hollow, Ralph S. Mouse, Sarah Plain and Tall, and Raymie Nightingale! I am sure I will add several more, but I am really looking forward to digging into this stack!

You've picked so many good ones! My family loves Howl's Moving Castle, Rump, and A Pinch of Magic. I just read When You Trap a Tiger last month and I loved it so SO much. Also The Girl Who Walked on Air sounds absolutely delightful. I'm going to have to track it down.

I’m so excited for MGM! This year I’m planning to read Absolutely Truly (family) , Echo Mountain (adventure), Summer of the Mariposas (silhouette) , North Child (fairy tale), Inside Out & Back Again (set in 1970s) and The Brave. I can’t wait!

I haven’t heard of a lot of the books you shared, which is exciting! I love finding new book recommendations 😊 I found a few more 80s books if anyone was as stuck as me - Redwall, The Sign of the Beaver & The Devil’s Arithmetic. I’m reading The Sign of the Beaver in March!

Yes! I will participate in the readathon but I’m not a fan to follow social media. I usually do the readathons on my own because is a way to continue reading from the books I have in my shelves. I try not buy books during readathons unless it is necessary. I need to buy for example Brave. I love Middle Grade books when they have a message that will impact that child’s emotional-thinking development but love when the author didn’t lose how a child will think and behave. How do you accomplish that, well I will say, observe them, share with them besides research in this area. 1. Book with silhouette: A Pinch of Magic 2. Adventure-journey: Frostheart book 2 3. Family: Pages and Co. Book 2 4. Retelling: Ella Enchanted 5. Book in my decade-reserved😉 6. Group Book: Brave (in process) Have you read Wizard of One series. It is a fun series. I not always agree with some arguments but love Wish. It is a fantasy series.

So excited! We made our book club theme Middle Grade March so we could all participate! We don't all read the same book but pick a different genre/theme each month and I am very excited to read more middle grade. I am waiting on a bunch of library holds but hoping to read: Esperanza rising, Stella by starlight, The remarkable journey of Coyote Sunrise and possibly bridge to terabithia. I read A Monster Calls last year after going down the rabbit hole of middle grade recommendations and it ended up being one of my all time favorites (I may even have to re-read). Looking forward to following along!

I just finished the book The Sisters of Straygarden Place yesterday. Which fits for both the prompt of families and silhouettes on the cover. :) And right now I'm reading The Mouse With the Question Mark Tail, which could be for the prompt of a fairytale, as it has those feels of animal fairytales.

I'm also planning on Rump. I'm planning on the second Vanderbeeker book for a book about a family, Saavy or Watsons Go to Birmingham for an adventure/journey book, and Brown Girl Dreaming for the silhouette. I haven't decided any other ones yet. If you ever want to read another Revolutionary War Middle Grade book, the series that starts with Chains is very good (Forge, Ashes).

When I first looked over the prompts I actually misread the one about the decade & was searching for a book published the year I was born. 🥴 🤦🏻‍♀️ Surprisingly, I found one that looks like it will be great! Good Night, Mr. Tom by Michelle Magorian published 1981.

I am also an 80’s baby and last year I made myself a personal reading challenge where I read 10 books for every year of the 80’s and my favorite read hands down was Dear Mr Henshaw by Beverly Cleary . It is an epistolary novel ( which you mentioned is often a favorite format of yours ) . It is short , sweet, and heartwarming . It also has a follow up named Strider which is also delightful. I would recommend that one because you can know CK that one off in an hour or two and it is actually pretty great ( in my humble opinion ) . If you need other 80’s recommendations let me know I have a few others I enjoyed reading last year .

I turned 40 last year so my full challenge was to read a book published every year starting at the year I was born ( 1980 ) and ending with a 2020 release . I read several middle grade /YA titles in that mix and I did read a MG for each year of the 80’s because I was youngest TGN and wanted to catch so that I may have missed while growing up I read a lot of Babysitters Club , Goosebumps, Sweet Valley High to name a few LOL so I missed any of the decent literature that came out at the time lol. Don’t judge me but until last year I hadn’t read any Roald Dahl books :( So I read a couple of those. They are very funny. I also explored Ramona books and a few Newberry honors to complete my challenge LOL Not any deep reads but in 2020 I could use light, and humorous so they all rated between 3.5-5 :) I’ll send you a pick of the ones I actually read with a list of a few that peeked my interest but I never got too :) Hope that helps .

I've got When You Trap a Tiger on hold at the library. Really hoping it comes in before the end of the month. I think I'm 4th or 5th in line. You have some good ones! I also have a couple Katherine Rundell books on my shelves and haven't read them. Amanda said the same thing. Too funny. We need to change that!

The books you've chosen look interesting and fun read. Especially, the Avi book. I read a book last year that was set during the Revolutionary War. It was called Love Thy Neighbor: The Tory Diary of Prudence Emerson by Ann Turner. I loved it. I'm tempted to read it again. I'm going to try and read books by Irish writers this month both Middle Grade and Adult. Try being the key word :)
