@iamnottheguy89144 жыл бұрын
@@BlueTomorrows I'm not to knowledgeable on planet of the apes, so I can't comment. I will say that more often then not you'll find that a film that adapts a book will be good on it's own, but pales in comparison to the book. The main example I always point to is Jurassic Park. Don't get me wrong, I love the film and some of the changes like the rewriting of Hammond's character so he's not just elderly Gendo were good. But I honestly kinda prefer the book just because it was more gutsy with the violence. The film was relatively timid with the gore, as opposed to the novel which went into full blown R-rated territory.

i read this book series during a rough point in my life where i was struggling with similar things- being a young artist, feeling cast out, and my mom having a shitty boyfriend. the book was funny and i loves the drawings, and what really brought me in was the serious moments that made me feel not alone. this movie was an utter disappointment that made me hate rafe and his mom, feel bored by bear, and just feel babied. if you havent, give the series a read- the first few books are wonderful.

Honestly, as bad as the movie is, I can completely understand how Rafe made it into school. At my school, (albeit in the UK, not the US.) you could make it inside with as little as a ladder. Literally, all you’d need. To someone who wasn’t as painfully unfit as me, you could probably jump a section of low fence and then not need a ladder at all. You could even enter the main school building from the grounds, since several of the doors are just normal internal doors rather than lockable electronic doors or even exterior doors. And also, a live eel? That’s a hard thing to find in America? Nah, in England, where I live, an eel is easy to find. You can get them at pet shops, and if you go to one of the many seaside towns you can actually buy them fresh from people who have caught them.
@demonteprice58704 жыл бұрын
I remember I could identify with Rafe in a lot of ways when I first read the book; my home life wasn't the greatest, I wasn't an incredibly remarkable student in any respect other than my art, and I was always chasing after the wrong girl. Entering into middle school it was nice seeing a character so relatable (but as you can expect, the movie absolutely crushed me from the first trailer alone when I saw how badly they butchered their source)

Well, may as well give my reviews of every middle school book I read (the first four) since this is the first time in years I've seen the series brought up. Worst Years Of My Life: Yeah, it's good. Funny, emotional and even kind of haunting at parts. It doesn't hurt that, unlike Diary Of A Wimpy kid, the book, as well aa its sequels, have a structure and aren't just random things happening. It also doesn't hurt that Rafe is actually likable, unlike Greg Heffley. Get Me Out Of Here: In My Opinion, a slight step down from the first one. However, not by much. It maintains a good wit and I liked the dive into Rafe's father. One of the final scenes in particular, is really spectacular and is one of the few places where the book outshines its predecessor. Matty was a decent antagonist, but he was very realistic. It personally has happened to me a few times when a close friend turns out to be an asshole and we drift apart. B, B and S H: Again, a step down. But honestly, it might be my favourite in the series. I love the atmosphere, the new characters are all pretty likable, except for a few underdeveloped ones, and I just really do like it. It's a pretty nostalgic book to me as I remember reading it at my own summer camp when I was younger and more carefree. Save Rafe: Okay, yeah, don't like this one much at all, and honestly don't have much to say about it. Probably because this time around, the supporting cast were not very likable, with maybe one or two exceptions.
