So, the original concept for Cool World was inspired by Roger Rabbit and it was about an evil character half-cartoon and half-live-action. Ralph basically wanted to make "Judge Doom: The Movie".

43:12 they didnt just "suggest" he changed the name, they made him do it. He wanted it called "Harlem Knights" because the three brothers were heroes of the community. He thought "Coonskin" was just being provocative for the sake of being provocative and didn't want it.

The reason I stopped watching Nostalgia Critic is because he does the most surface level research on films past the mid-2000's. And sometimes he pretends like he's familiar with the source material of adaptations despite not knowing a thing about them.

I am amazed at how thoroughly meh Nostalgia Critic is. Like, I loved him as an early teenager but now? He has this affect like he's an adult reading to children at a library, this overly exaggerated and somewhat patronizing tone. It's really obnoxious. I was VERY briefly subscribed to BionicPig when he did commentary stuff but quickly dipped when I found his stuff was repedative and boring. It was always these surface level observations with little thought or research. I'm very much a death of the author type - I like to look at media on its own merrit with little interest in the backstory (when I do my own analysis). He can't even do that, barely skimming the surface of whatever he's talking about. You could replace him with ChatGBT and miss nothing.

bionicpig is really good at making videos about the things he likes. if you watch any of his videos about the stuff he is passionate about, like his video on House or paranorman or whatnot, those reviews are fairly good even if a lot of time he doesn't critically engage with it however, sadly, those are a minority in his channel, and the majority of the videos he makes are about media he finds cring or that he doesn't like/outright hates, and those are really bad it's honestly kind of sad, but when he reviews a peace of media that is hated by most, it's like he is unable to engage with it critically and can Only look at it through the eyes of the public almost like he tries to avoid backlash

I just finished watching the video, can't imagine the amount of effort and time that took you making it, i inmensly appreciate your work. And I must admit, i was so confused when I saw the thumbnail, the video duration, and the name Bakshi... Soo yeah, I just discovered your channel being this one the first video I've seen, and keep it up and don't stress too much 😘 (btw English it's not my primary language sorry for any mistakes).

I always appreciated how this movie shows why the "gifted kid" approach is so damaging and sets you up for failure. Teaching kids they don't have to try for excellence will inventivise them not to try. And nothing will be there to fall back on when they inevitably fail.

1:03:30 even then that's an understatement. The Silmarion? It's not supposed to exist, it's an encyclopedia of a fictional world composed of the notes he had literally lying around. Vaguely recall it was his son who actually put that one out after Tolkien died. Saying "he had the room" also involved _stacking papers across surfaces_ in this context.

I would more videos like this pointing out how so many negative reviews instead of giving good insight why they don’t like the film actually lack the understanding of what they’re talking about to the point where they make more of an assumption out of themselves than the movie they’re talking about

So to anyone wondering about the “robot shark” conversation I was talking to the chat about one of their favorite video game genres and I brought up mine (being fighting games!) Taking about how much I love the music the characters and designs saying that the designs remind me of hot topic or sharkrobot? (And asking is it kind of count alongside hot topic?)

I have so much respect for bakshi for being unique and doing his own thing. While his kind of comedy may have been too dark for me, I still love that he was such a rebel in the animation industry. He’s a trailblazer for future adult animation creators.

Shout out to the artist James Gurney, the creator of Dinotopia, who was also a background artist on Fire and Ice early in his career, and also shout out to the late Louise Zingarelli, an artist who did a lot of production/character art for American Pop and Cool World (and the art of Cool World is its greatest strength).
