So basically the Boov in the movie are the PragerU versions of the ones from the book.

I never knew there was a book, this was always just that weird unremarkable movie I never watched as a kid. Sounds like more Hollywood garbage.

I promise, most kids from around 2005-2011 appreciated Hortan Hears A Who. “The emo kid from Hortan Hears a Who” is an icon to us.

It's not lost on me that a show beloved by LGBT people has a gay protagonist and the supposed OG straight white man as its main antagonist, who also so happens to be a genocidal maniac, as if vivziepop thinks Hitler went to heaven. Besides that, and the otherwise poor writing, its a decent show I guess.

It gets kinda hard to take the “emotional” parts of this series seriously when there’s sex jokes and swearing every five seconds

What? The sleep arc where kagura isn't able to sleep is average? 100s of folks have talked about that arc and this is the first time I've heard someone describe it as average

I have a great hope the new DCU from Gunn will be as the Brave and the Bold Cartoon. It don't need to be "Campy" because that was Batman and Robin of Schumacher. But it can be FUN as Brave and the Bold, where Batman takes HIMSELF serious, but the world around him is... very weird. That would be fun.

Kids love tonally darker, more serious media too. Thats one thing modern films and shows seem to forget. As a kid in the 2000s and 2010s in the UK, channels like CBBC aired shows like Grizzly Tales which often showed children being eaten, presumably killed, mutilated, or turned into animals as punishment for misbehaving. Not all shows were as gruesome as Grizzly Tales, but most were somewhat darker than those produced for US audiences which would air on Cartoon Network or C-iTV, such as Strange Hill High, Horrible Histories, Tracy Beaker and Trapped!.

Who did the minions serve from 1933 to 1945? Nobody. They were trapped in an ice cave. Like, very explicitly said in the movie.

Ok so as a kid I actually had this movie on dvd and my mother had a dvd player built into her car, so I have watched this film… roughly 3,000 times. Also we didn’t have many dvds in the car so we watched the same few ones, let alone the process for putting a new dvd in was usually not done which caused most viewings to be continuous from car ride to car ride. I am not sure how I still have any cognitive function.

Your gaslighting about immigration was not cool. It's unlikely that you're actually that ignorant. You know full well that the "great replacement" theory has nothing to do with a French dude. What the heck? You know full well that it was mainstream opinion that Democrats would soon have a supermajority as white people became the minority. Places like the New York Times proudly printed such opinions until recently.

In the summer of 2023 I was at Universal Studios Florida and they fenced off the area that used to be the Kid Zone in preparation for a Dreamworks themed area. On the fence were all these cutouts of various Dreamworks characters and 99% of them were the instantly recognizable ones and when I saw Oh, I was so confused for a moment because I'd completely forgotten that 'Home' existed until that moment. I then promptly forgot it existed again until I saw this video show up on my home page. To your point, I think the only worthwhile aspect of the movie is to be reminded of the book it's based on, because you've piqued my interest into reading it now.

You know, the Book Boov really remind me of frogs, in a way. Sure, their bodyplan is decidedly a strange one, but everything above the head just screams that they're some form of amphibian, which I'm honestly really sad was discarded.
