The fact that the government prosecutor isn't being transparent about the content of the chat, and basically saying "trust us" should be a big red flag. No children should be criminally prosecuted for dumb words said in a private setting. They're literally still children at that age.

the fact that the DA is saying "racist terminology" and "violent imagery" makes me think he's a lunatic. So many things to say about this... Maybe critical race theory isn't such a great idea? Maybe shaming people because they are white is equally as bad and this is the result? White kids are being told that they are racist from birth? All of that said... I think the above are contributing factors in keeping racism alive. However, I think it is despicable that this situation occurred also. I've read about countless kids who have been bullied that have been so desperate that they took their own lives. Things like this are just wrong. Racism of any form is just wrong also. Criminal charges? Eh... it doesn't surprise me in the state of Massachusetts. But we do not know exactly how bad it was. I'll reserve my judgement. Perhaps there will be more to the story, like there usually is.
