@@Hexelovemarlene The music for Heat Waves actually has a nice little story that is very obvious on first watch. It was during the pandemic and they weren't able to come together to perform because of it. So as an idea to shoot the video, he asked all his neighbors to record him from their windows and was able to artistically be together performing with his band, similar to the way we all did with zoom.

I've been a huge fan of Glass Animals since I first noticed their Zaba album in like, 2015 or 2016. I remember thinking back then that I really hoped for the day where I get to see more video essays and analyses of them and their music, because their music has helped me through so many years of my life. Your video made me remember those thoughts, and I really want to thank you for that. I've always looked up to your videos and editing, and it's safe to say you've REALLY hit it out of the ballpark with this video. I mean, heck, your editing is so in tune with the corresponding Glass Animals' album and it is AMAZING! I don't even know how to describe it, every section just feels "right" and it gives me the vibe that each album gives. Some of these things about GA I never even knew, and I'm happy you covered them. glass animals are officially back!! they're working on a fourth album! dave labled it as a 'drone-core magnum opus concept album' in a fanmail and it's currently spaced themed :D EDIT !!: the album is called “i love you so f***ing much”and it’s out on July 19th!! They’ve already released a single from it called “creatures in heaven” and have dropped a presave link for another track that’s gonna come out soon!! ALSO dave once said that he wanted to do a space themed album back when he was making dreamland BUT he didn’t feel like it was the right time so he made like six songs and called that idea off, but it looks like it’s back!!

Glass Animals and their music have been such an influential part of my adolescence and growing up, it's amazing to see someone cover their entire discography and put their entire story out like this. I found them just when they released Dreamland, and It's All So Incredibly Loud and Space Ghost Coast To Ghost were both vital to my processing of traumatic events in the past few years. First off, amazing video as always! I was so excited when I saw you did a deep dive of one of my favorite bands, and you definitely didn't disappoint. I found GA right before HTBAHB dropped. I liked all the singles leading up to it, and when the whole album finally dropped I felt it had a lot of high points, overall I thoroughly enjoyed it. And then came the Dreamland phase, and admitedly, I didn't care much for it. The only single that caught my ear was Deja Vu, because it *almost* sounded like their first album. I hate to be THAT fan but Zaba was a 10/10 for me, I just fell in love with their minimalist, dark, slumped beats. The whole vibe, the jungle aesthetic, the ambient animal sounds, it makes for such a complete album experience. BUT, I love these videos partially because they convince me to sometimes give things another try. So I think a re-listen of Dreamland might be in store for me...

This is the first band in a long time that I will sit and listen to their albums cover to cover. And you didn’t even touch on their music videos! I love all their videos because they actually enhance and build the story instead of most videos now which are either just all for visual or tell a completely different story. Especially the video for Agnes, when you look at the backstory of the pain Dave went through to get the shots it makes it even better!

It only lasted a couple weeks before I went ‘huh, maybe I should check them out.’ Band wagons are a great west to introduce people to new music- I’ve never really vibed with any other artists as I have with the Glass Animals! (And 2 things: I do agree heat waves really is the weak link [wow what a high bar], and for those ‘name 5’ers: Life itself, Pools, Cocoa Hooves, Agnes, Space Ghost [Coast to Coast]) Edit: welp he talked about/ mentioned all these tracks except life itself so lemme just do 4 more- take a slice, golden antlers, tangerine, JDNT 😅

I recommend listening to their Song Exploder episode, it's incredibly revealing. "Heat Waves" is actually about the death of a friend, which is not the first thing you think of when you hear it.

Gooey brings so many memories back. Used to be a lifeguard during the summer and would clean the wave pool with my gf at the time before work. Just teenagers enjoying summer jamming out to Glass Animals

Best video I’ve seen this year, love the visualizations, they really pair well with the zany-ness of this band. Glass Animals are my favorite band, and how to be a human being is my favorite album. I have to be honest and say I wasn’t aware of the themes for the albums, like you’ve explained here, but now my affection towards their craft is even stronger. Man I can’t get enough of their style.

So so sooo happy you made a video about Glass Animals!!!!! Saw them in Bonnaroo for the first time in 2015 not knowing who they were and I was blown away by their performance; I came out a huge fan and have followed them ever since. Zaba will forever be my favorite album by them & that performance has so many great memories I will cherish for a lifetime! This band is so special & seeing everyone's comments showing the immense support for the band just makes me excited for what they have in store for us in the future.

The transition from home movie: rocket to domestic bliss gets me every time. Capturing that child innocence to such a tragic experience is so heart wrenching. Man made a great musical transition playing into his narrative… makes me cry every time

Gooey was my favorite song when I was younger and was always in my playlist, then I fell in love with Heat Waves and didn’t even realize that it was the same artists. Recently I listened to everything and now they’re my favorite artist

Zaba is my favorite album that they have out simply because each song has this psychedelic tone and it makes my brain do a backflip, Dreamland is my 2nd favorite due to its nostalgic feel and the fact it’s the album that led me to them. I love each and every song on that album, and HTBAHB used to be my favorite (until I listened to more Zaba songs) and I can sing each song word by word, and I’ve always loved how it details human behavior while also being so darn catchy. They have been my favorite band since 2020 and my favorite song always changes but it’s always a Glass Animals Song, I think right now it’s Wyrd from Zaba.

I love them so much. It’s been so awesome seeing them grown through the years. Caught them right as HTBAHB came out in 2016 and I’ve been hooked ever since. Saw them live twice this year and I’m rearing to see them again. Dreamland was a shining light in the darkness of 2020. I hope with the overwhelming success of Heat Waves that they’re able to keep doing what they want to with more fans supporting them along the way!! ❤

First Glass Animals song I ever heard was Youth just over 6 years ago now. I latched onto it immediately. A year or two or three later I started properly listening to them. Loved them ever since. I think they're underrated. After Heat Waves blew up I think a lot of people thought all their music sounded like that. I was annoyed it was Heat Waves because that's one of my least favourite tracks from them. But throughout their music, the sounds and the storytelling will always make me feel so much. They are truly just so amazing. I love them.

I've listened to Youth in FIFA 17 and i instantly fell in love with the song, but after the release of Season 2 Episode 3 clip, i started to listen less and less until i forgot about the band, and after 5 years Youth played on my playlist again and i entered in their Spotify page to see how they were doing, you can imagine my surprise to see the hundreds of millions of plays on Heat Waves, i was like "finally people are noticing this band", another incredible video man, congrats!
