He was always a "capable artist," flower boy is beautiful, but his previous works were also prodigious and shouldn't be dismissed-I think they were just as "emotionally honest," he was just a different person in a different place, rapping to purge and use humor to deal with the absurdities & difficulties of life

Bastard is a solid, good album. The fact that it's dismissed as 'edgy' and 'rough' is incredibly stupid. He was rapping his ass off throughout and the profane, dark humor was part of a concept tied in to the album that people would only get if they got over that dumbass bias. However Flowerboy to CMIYGL was an orgasmic experience.

Everyone has IGOR as the number 1 album, for me it’s Flower Boy, because it’s the first time that Tyler really opened up and see his potential als a producer and really let his maturity and creative mind go. I also really love IGOR for the whole storytelling of the album and the more hip-hop focussed album. But everytime I hear the dreamy synths with a big focus on his own life and his own thoughts. I’ll simply stick until the end. Every single time.

Flowerboy changed my life, the juxtaposition of cars (a very "masculine" thing) and flowers (a very "femenine" thing) is amazing. Defying the heteronormative world, this album expanded queer identities. Thank you sooo much for this video, keep the hard work :)

Then right after it they say how the addition of flowers to the album helps to defies both the original notion of car "masculinity", and flower "femininity". These are things that a "feminist" that you speak about would agree with. I assume that someone that you're describing would agree with breaking heteronormative expectations as both this and feminism are forward thinking, equality based ideas. I’ve been saying that flower boy is Tyler’s most important album it’s what kept him relevant and more mainstream, if he didn’t drop flower boy and just another decent to mediocre album he wouldn’t be mainstream or as popular more underground. All though I believe Igor and call me if you get lost are better. This album is still a 9 and his most important. And this album paved ways for him to have 2 number 1 albums and a Grammy.

I feel like Flower Boy is its own art project but it also acts as a perfect threshold for Igor, like if he dropped another album like Cherry Bomb or Wolf or Goblin and then dropped Igor it would be a lotttt different because in this album it shows the more emotional side of him. And on IGOR he does that but he shares a lot more. The two just go so well together

I listened to this album for the first time in my freshman year of high school in 2017. It was my introduction to tyler and i loved it. Its an album ive been playing ever since it came out. I know the lyrics and tunes by heart. But for some reason, I felt I never really understood what it meant. I always thought see you again was a kind of love song and the meaning of november and other songs were always kind of murky. Recently, Ive been dealing with trying to like myself and be better talking to people and a lot of the time I feel like I’m not good enough. I just relistened to this album today and at the end of enjoy right now, today, i started crying. I loved this album before, maybe for the production and the melodies of the songs. but i love it even more now. this is such a beautiful album man wow

It would be really interesting to see if you did a review/commentary on Rihann’s Anti album (R8) which was her final album before she went on an extremely long hiatus. It’s considered her Magnus Opus and many critics have praised it for it’s sound and very Anti-Rihanna vibe. Not to mention that the song Work is very looked upon as the revival of dancehall music in mainstream music.
