I am mixed European and Middle Eastener, and I used to be an academic of English literature at high-powered unis --- and Gaza was my watershed moment. I feel so inspired and touched by Said, because of this similar trajectory. Like Said, I believe in armed strugglr and stupid people are always surprised when they meet me, hear my biography and then my convictions. Screw them, I say. Said was a great great man of integrity and devotion.

Orientalism for me become more relevant as I want to dissect how Western-mindset in Eastern society .... like "Indonesian". I recognize patterns of how they "otherize" others, anything beyond their bubble.
