Episode 3 from the first TV drama of Middlemarch (written by George Eliot), and adapted by the BBC for showing in 1968. There were 7 epsiodes in this mini-series (the first episode is currently thought lost). I believe this is the 3rd episode and was aired at 19.50 on Saturday the 27th July 1968, on BBC 2 (repeated on the Thursday). It was colour, and had a bevy of stars...not least Michele Dotrice, Helen Christie, Hannah Gordon, Richard Pearson and many more.
The sound has a bad hiss on my film, particularly the first 10 minutes...I am afraid I can do nothing about that, it reflects the condition of the film.
