Quite incredible to think how much water is in the air all around and on top of us. Do they consume much power? Seems like a self-contained source of fresh water

I absolutely agree completely. I never dreamed I would see so much water. I think it uses about 500w . Definitely not use to running something like this 24/7. In an emergency I Definitely would consider it for a source of water. I have seen a huge device installed on a ranch to provide drinking water. It was experimental but the operation is similar. I have shipping containers I use for storage - I have dehumidifiers in them so that there always dry - My dad was a publisher and had a very large library for the bussiness - He gave me a few 1000 books from the 1700 till about 1920 - so one shipping container is you could say a wall to wall library lol - I keep it at 60%. Humidity also - One shipping container I use a shop - the dehumidifier keeps all my tools and equipment drive and rust free - if I see Roches in a container I put it down to 30% the dry air kills Roches off it will dehydrate mice also and they will die off - As for crew living spaces as in the offshore oilfields - we kept living spaces at about 60% humidity yr round - that's what is most healthy and comfortable - The computer rooms were kept at 30% and spare machinery spaces at 60% humidity - at 60% nothing will rust -

​@able880 that is great information. I am new to this subject. According to my ecobee thermostat the house was around 55 percent prior to the dehumidifier. During the monsoon style rain it went into the 60's. I am liking the feel of high 40's to low 50's.
