OK, just finished the installation, and here are some tips Before you start: 1- Before Installing the sliders and hooking it up to your house, consider running the unit to make sure it doesn’t rattle. Seems like a lot of feedback on this and other forums about these units rattling, maybe replace it before you completely unpack it if you get a rattler. 2- as Others have mentioned, no need to apply the adhesive. I got a small bit of it on me, and I’m pretty sure that future me would find a time machine and travel back to punch me in the face if I had peeled the backing and applied did adhesive to the frame, I’m sure it would never come off hours of scraping. Simply apply the adhesive side to the sliders, or better yet remove only an occasional section of the paper backing and have that little segment apply to the slider. Because once you click the close the window it’s not going anywhere. 3- Make peace with the fact this thing is going to be at least 10 inches away from the wall when finally installed, I was able to find a table that fit nicely above it to fill the gap and hide the ugly 4 - don’t be a doofus like me and assume that the interior ventilation tube pulls out, it doesn’t except a little, it’s the entire outside ventilation tube that pulls out and connects to the window 5- if not, too late, appreciate that when packaged, the straps are simply holding the box to the unit. Once the straps are cut, you can lift the box up and off the unit because the box arrives with no bottom. This is especially helpful if you’re like me and had to unpackage it in the parking lot to get it in a car, almost got a hernia trying to lift the unit out of a box only later out there was no bottom in the box 6. - always keep it up right, if it was delivered, and you found it on its side, contact customer support to see how long you need to have it sitting vertically before you plug it in without doing damage

Use the remote to activate the comfort sense feature. This will make it use the thermostat in the remote instead of the thermostat inside the unit. I’ve seen comments where other people had this type of issue and the thermostat inside the unit was getting cold way before the room was. The thermostat in the remote can be used up to 26 feet away, so put it somewhere the cold air won’t blow on it. Hope this works for you.

I usually handle the user manuals while my husband sets up. He was so frustrated by the middle of the instructions thinking I was missing steps. "IT'S NOT ME" I was screaming. 😂 We found this video and and thought it was just as descriptive as the paper manual is. still not sure what " dry mode" means. Headed to the hardware shop to buy a longer hose for the continous draining as they only provided a 2 ft hose 😂 we haven't even got the first AC unit set up and we bought 2. It's been 2 hours. We rigged ours out our doggie door!! 🤪 It is 10:07pm & our 3,000 plus square foot home is comfortable enough for us to sleep in. I doubt it will get us through 2 full days of this horrendous heat! I found it easy to set up. We also won’t need it except for emergencies once our A/C is fixed. I give it 5 stars. My review & my response too @TheCoupleThatJeeps.😁 Btw, did you notice any condensation or need for the water hose? So far not a drip has come out & the humidity is relentless!

I installed it into a vertical sliding window withtout the window kit brace. The hose pulled out from the window in the middle of the night. After lots of staring at the illustrations in the manual I was able to install the window kit brace. It is absolutely vital to hold the weight of the large hose into the window. I appreciate that Midae made an installtion video but they need to redo it with some close-ups and better explanation.

My installation was more difficult because of being on the second floor and having a left/right tall sliding window. As other reviewers have said, some things are missing from the video and User Manual. The manual says "MShield Used to starts and stops the Fresh feature." What does MShield mean, what is the Fresh feature? Luckily, from other reviewers I learned that the smooth side of Window Sliders Panels face the inside. Before permanently adhering the slider insulation foam to the sliders, trace the outline of the dual hose opening and cut the foam out. I could not figure out how to attach the Window Kit Brace so, as I saw in some reviewers KZbin videos, I didn't use it. Maybe my double pane window is too thin for the Brace to work? A clear photo or video of how the Brace is supposed to work would really help. There are at least 9 openings in the Sliding Window Adapter that flies and spiders, and winter cold, summer heat can come through. Each of the 8 plastic clips are wide open to the outside. All these leaks will need to be sealed up somehow. There was not enough Foam Seal C for my tall windows. Then there's the problem of how to prevent birds and other animals from nesting in the heat/cool hoses! Why in the world is there no grill or mesh over these huge openings? After a few frustrating hours the unit is now working very well. Fix everything tomorrow.
@MideaAmerica
@MideaAmerica 24 күн бұрын
Hello @markuskragner5462, Thank you for your comment. The MShield feature is a specific air ionizer technology-this device releases negative ions into the air. The negative ions attach to tiny particles, like those in tobacco smoke. This gives the particles an electrical charge, causing them to clump together and land on surfaces like walls. Hello San. I would recommend looking at the picture on page 13 of the manual attached here. It shows exactly how much space is needed. Your installation location should meet the following requirements: • Make sure that you install your unit on an even surface to minimize noise and vibration. • The unit must be installed near a grounded plug, and the Collection Tray Drain (found on the back of the unit) must be accessible. • The unit should be located at least 9.8” (25cm) from the nearest wall to ensure proper air conditioning. The horizontal louver blade should be at least 50cm (19.7”) away from obstacles. m.media-amazon.com/images/I/B1z6ZDDn33S.pdf. Have a great day!

Looks like the adhesive foam insulation sheet are attached to the outside of the windows slider, question is will it be able to last being outside taking the beating of weather? One more question, about the air exhaust adapter, it is recommended for hung windows. But after attached it to the hose, it doesn't look very air tight, not sure how it can increase performance, very against intuition. Anyway i think the video confirm what's in the manual, will try to follow instructions, hopefully outside of my window won't see some gooey crawling down after a thunderstorm. Thanks for the video, very clear direction.

Hello @cfadavid, Thank you for your comment. If the installation is done correctly, the adhesive foam should remain unaffected by weather changes. To ensure the secure attachment of the exhaust hose to the window, extra foam or tape should be added around the parts that are not as tightly fitted. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at digitalsupport@midea.com. Have a great day!

I bought one to upgrade from a older portable ac unit in my double wide. The biggest compliant I have on the install is that the hose cutout is not on center top to bottom. The big plastic storage clip would not clear the edge of the outer window so I chopped it off. Also I had to cutout part of the opposing sliding panel so it wouldn't overlap the hose cutout. Other than that the unit is working good so far and I like the addition of being able to control it with a app.

@@MideaAmerica Real Cool 35 (Euro version) I have mine set up with the dual hose kit (extra 90 Euros in GE). I have it set to 16C and the compressor shuts off at 19C (ie when I set mode to "fan" it says 19C). I spoke to Claudio in tech support and he said there is a 2-3 degree variance between set point and the temp gauge. I want this unit to run long and hard to cool my large bedroom but I can't seem to get it working so that the compressor will stay on. Other than that, solid machine. Excellent fit and finish. Euro model needs variable speed inverter like the US model (which is what every split model uses in Europe). Seems weird that the intake hose does not have any sort of filter and you are just sucking in dirty outside air full of pollen and flies etc. Can I use a very "loose" piece of filter material like you would use on a bathroom extractor fan on the intake hose as long as it doesn't choke off the supply?

Thanks for your question! Cool mode does not typically produce condensate due to the pressure from the exhaust -- unless you live in a high-humidity environment. If that's the case, you will need to empty the drain tray once the unit displays a P1 code. This will have to be done manually, and once the tray is empty, you can resume operation.

I read up a bit on the dual hose system and I believe it recirculates the inside air for cooling the room and the heat produced goes outside through the exhaust hose. The 2nd hose is to bring outside air in to the machine only for cooling it. I could be wrong but that is my understanding.

Hello, pacificlifestyles7641. The drain hose does not need to be set up if you are emptying the bucket when full, it all depends on your drain preference. Please see the user manual for more information on draining the unit. For questions or concerns, please reach out to us at DigitalSupport@midea.com.

How do you empty the water from the midea duo portable air conditioner?? Please show in the video. Thank you for your help....
@MideaAmerica
@MideaAmerica 7 ай бұрын
Hi @VTidwell, Thank you for your question. The Midea Duo Portable Air Conditioner can be drained both manually and continuously. If you wish to drain the unit manually, you will need to open the drain cap in the lower part of the unit. This is where the water is collected into an internal drain tray and needs to be taken near a drain hole to be emptied. Once emptied, you should close the drain plug. Please note that both caps must be closed after using manual draining. If you would like to drain the unit continuously without having to empty the drain tray, you can connect a standard garden hose to the upper plug. The drain hose should be sent to the drain hole or sink to drain. In this case, you do not need to move the unit to drain it; however, the unit only uses gravity draining with continuous draining, so the hose must be lower than the unit. Have a great day!

So what instance would you not need the drain hose? What is the difference with dry mode?
@MideaAmerica
@MideaAmerica Ай бұрын
Hello @Hal-Larson, Thank you for your question. The drain hose is optional in cooling mode. In dry mode, the unit operates as a dehumidifier, so the drain must be connected during this mode. Have a great day!

I just bought the 12,000 BTU unit from Costco. The power cord doesn't reach the intended outlet. Can i use a surge protector?
@MideaAmerica
@MideaAmerica Ай бұрын
Hi @Happy2bme2dae. We do not recommend using an extension cord or surge protector for our units. Instead, we recommend plugging the unit into a dedicated wall outlet. If you do not have one near the unit, we recommend relocating it or having a licensed electrician place a receptacle near it. Have a great day!

What is dry mode? Also how much water will it dispense? I used to have Toshiba at it fills out 1gallon in a couple of hours. Is it the same?
@MideaAmerica
@MideaAmerica Ай бұрын
Hello @k43869, Thank you for your question. Dry mode is dehumidifier mode. Several factors determine when the unit needs to be drained. These include the humidity level, temperature, and frequency of use. Because of this, there is no set time frame for when the unit should be drained. Water collection in the unit largely depends on these varying external factors. If you have further questions or queries, please get in touch with us at digitalsupport@midea.com. Have a great day!
