I bought 2 of these recently.... one 12k BTU, one 8k BTU. it is exactly as he said, very quiet! But installation takes way more than 10 minutes. ;-) Totally worth it, though... it can run at night just a few feet from my head and it does not interrupt my sleep. Completely satisfied! :-)

How much colder is the 12k BTU than the 8k BTU in your opinion. Not sure which one to get for my large room since I live in 110+ California

depends on the install I guess. I also have a 12,000 and 8,000 and id say the first install took closer to 20 minutes with the second taking about 10 once I was familiar with everything.

I have this unit in our upstairs master. It's pretty quiet on low but you definitely hear it when it's cycles on medium and high. We are happy and very impressed with this unit

I have three of these in my house and 2 fans for a two story and a basement. 3br 2 ba. And my house is cool while outside is 90. They are a little noisy but nothing to out of the ordinary. Absolutely recommend.

I wish they made a 5k btu version of midea, because 8k to 10k units are overkill. also, traditional air conditioners are my white noise.

I have a 5000 btu that cools my room just fine but is loud. Will these 8000 btu make my room uncomfortably cold?

no... these are variable units which unlike the older traditional ac units, can run the compressor at a variable lower power, meaning the ac unit will work just like the 5,000btu unit once the desireded temp is reached.

Do you know if the electronics that drive the DC compressor are inside or outside!! I live in the beach and so far I have trow in the garbage 3 inverters... they are to expensive, and "In My Situation don't last more than a year and a half or so....

@@Thomas-fe4sw OMG The sound difference is night and day. We've been using it since early June. As everyone says, the install is a bit of a pain. It's heavier than the monster it replaced and you need to watch install videos a couple times. It's not completely silent, but it's no louder than a window fan when it's cycling. I also like the app, I have it on my iPod and about an hour before we head up, I turn it on. I could program it but I haven't really played around with it that much. I don't know how efficient it is, I'll know when I get my August electric bill (compare vs last summer).

It cools the house pretty well, I got a 10,000BTU for a 1000 sq ft space. The noise is almost unnoticeable. I’ll be able to provide more feedback when it gets hotter in the east coast in a few weeks.

Well the Medea was pretty cool but I like traditional window AC too I have a LG air conditioner it looks like the one that you just showed us the one that's really noisy I have that kind it's not that noisy

I have two LG units like that and they are much noisier than my new midea units. the LG units get louder with age as they develop more vibrations it seems.

If "Performance" is your thing with AC's these split units are not as good as the regular. If you live in a hot climate closer to the equator you don't want these units. Most of the noise you hear in a wind0ow AC is the fan which I don't mind when its hot outside & you need the cold air moving. I guess for a small room these will work but if your trying to cool anything over 12 x 12 in a hot climate they aren't good.

Directions say that it should have a slight tilt to outside. Level bubble inside level line but bubble just inside of level line on inside side.

DON'T BUY THESE! - If you have a yard/outdoor area you plan on spending time in. Inside it is quiet as can be, it's great. Outside there is a very obnoxious squealing sound these units make. You can hear it in the 2nd half of the video. Seems more subtle in the video, but if you're hanging out in the yard, it's very very annoying. If you're in an apartment though or place it in a window far from your outside area, it would be great.

Depends on if your talking upfront cost or cost over the whole year? The midea uses about 35% less electricity so the longer you own it the cheaper the cost... paid $158 for the 8kbtu unit and $257 for the 12k unit both from an amazon return reseller since they had damaged packaging. I have 4 old clunky traditional window units ill be selling on facebook for $50 each but just because they are cheap to buy doesnt make them a great deal.

@@orzskitv1795 I drilled a hole for mine to drip due to some reporting mold, midea recommended it, honestly though if you install with the correct tilt downward towards the back you wont have mold or rot issues either way.
