That wouldn't make the actual sans fight as impactful as during the first phase before he spares you he tries to make you reflect so when he does inevetably spare you, you think about your options and decide if its really worth it to continue. His sparing part I should mention is less him actually wanting a better end but rather you to stop playing the game since he knows if he just says to go do a 180 and save the world 1: its less likely to result in the enemy accepting & 2: he would just end up back here even if he did convince the enemy. So ofc his way is by giving us the cold shoulder and telling us and I quote "If were really friends, You wont come back. . ." Not implying for you to reset but to just quit. During Phase 2 it is him only trying to deter you from playing the game, By cheating more ofc. If anything it feels as if sans himself is like us the player and we are his boss battle, an unstoppable force only swayed with our own determination, That's what makes the end of his fight so impactful because when you deliver that final slash, he realizes there was no stopping you, Like a game where the main character no matter there choices cant do anything to stop what's going only, Only prolong in hopes to deter or test the patience's of who he fights against.
