This is exactly what I have been looking for ! I have c always been intrigued by the cuisines of the Middle East, and I was not aware of this fabulous market. I am headed to Palo Alto to shop here for spices, etc because this is definitely the place to shop. Thank you for educating me. And I will be ordering your cookbook❤

Oh, I wish we had a great middle-eastern store in our town near Savanna like this. This place looks wonderful! The only store we have is so small and barely has the essentials. Now I'm hungry!

I found one for you--granted it doesn't look as big as the one I visited, but it might be a good place to start-- it's on 7064 Hodgson Memorial Dr Savannah, GA

Blanche, thank you for looking so fabulous while shopping 😊 Also, which is your favourite za'taar? I'm currently using a Jerusalem blend. Maybe you could do a video on the differences and usage?
@blanchetv5 ай бұрын
Great idea and thank you =) Naturally I am partial to Palestinian za'atar, but there are nuances between countries. LOVE you suggestion I might do a za'atar review with mama Vera (seriously!!)

@blanchetv Great! I tried figuring out what the differences were based on ingredients. The only thing I noticed was the amount of sumac changed.

Can’t wait for this show. One thing I noticed is that Vimto soft drinks are super popular ! I don’t care for soda but I buy a case of Vimto often.

Never tried it, what does it taste like?

@@blanchetv Kind of a fruit flavor drink but much more superior! They are in all of the Mid East stores. I first saw them in London in the 1980’s. The shopkeeper told me they sell well for during Ramadan, after the fast. However as a Christian I love it too. They come in a red can. They also sell it as a concentrate in a bottle that you can add a couple spoonfuls to either water or another drink.

Going to look for that next time thanks for the tip! =) @@SIR46661

You can buy Vimto instead of soda. Another healthy alternative is to mix balsamic vinegar and sparkling water, a recipe recommended by Dr Gundry.

Dear Blanche, what’s your fave Palestinian Zaatar, fave tahini? It’s been a while since you discussed tahini options. Would love for you to do , if possible, an easy practical down to earth Arabic / Turkish ice cream now that you bought sahlab, I recall some ice cream recipe that used Sahlab to get that rich creamy real ice cream texture using cream rose/ orange blossom water and decorated with pistachios.

Just in case you haven't seen these videos before, here is the review my mother and I did on tahini brands: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2OTmZR6nbJ_bposi=CgAwagUIyf3nEHzU And this is my favorite easy ice cream recipe with the flavors of sahlab, like pistachio and rose water: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKS4pH6mrpmEj9Esi=48QddBuDf-4tnCpG

Asalamalaikum blanche i wanted to share with you if you search the internet about xylitol and erythritol could cause blood clots ctvnews has a news article on it. Some stevia has erythritol mixed in it and some dont so beware if it is mixed with erythritol you shoukd not by it also the cheaper stevia is mixed with maltodextrin which can spike blood sugar. Try to buy the more pure version of stevia or monkfruit. God bless you and your family from a lebanese brother Asalamalaikum.
@blanchetv5 ай бұрын
yes you bring up good points about the stevia mixed with maltodextrin. I just buy pure organic liquid stevia, as well as monkfruit. Not a huge fan of erythritol because it might spike blood sugar as well. Shukran sounds like you know what's up! ;)
