I’ve tried all these from my local middle eastern store except the Palestinian and Lebanese one . The ones in store taste stale and flat . Too long in plastic with light hitting it .

Is there a substitute for the pomegranate molasses? Would regular molasses or pomegranate juice work?
@blanchetv
@blanchetv 3 күн бұрын
You can cook down pomegranate juice in a saucepan until it gets a more syrupy texture. Regular molasses would be too sweet, in contrast to pomegranate molasses which has some sourness to it.

When made like this, they get crunchy and hard. You can substitute some suger for honey to make them turn out softer.

I'm sure someone might have mentioned it already. But if not, the smaller lentils are "brown lentils" and the larger are "green lentils". Very easy to mix up. But they aren't the same. Brown are red lentils with the skin still on, and green are a completely different pulse. Anyways, brown have a longer cooking time because of their thicker skin. So if you're out shopping for this recipe, ask for brown lentils.

Rather a better word to describe it, is the Levant. If you look up the word Palestine or Palestinian people, it doesn’t exist. The Arabs came down from Saudi Arabia. God bless!

You truly are so brainwashed. I got my DNA tested...100% was from the Levant!! We are the ancient people that never left the land, descended from the original Christians. Stop believing the lies! Your comment is absolutely ignorant on every level.

When my family made this my sister made it differently than my mother! So many different variations. ! My other sister follows my mother’s recipe to a “T”, down to the last grain of salt and the amount of lentils and rice ! I would be surprised if she counted the lentils and rice! Me? I probably make it differently each time!
