I am working with a usb cable on a midi keyboard with a pedal connected to it, and there is no delay that I can perceive. What kind of cable are you using? The ASIO drivers might also be a problem. Try to configure ASIO4ALL nicely (what I did).

I read somewhere that cheap MIDI cables do not actually inject program change commands into the device(s)...
@stephenhookings19853 жыл бұрын
No they often do - it's the sysex that breaks. Having said that the first few I bought were good - the modern ones are crap - non opto isolated. Avoid.
@MEANASSJAMSTER3 жыл бұрын
@@stephenhookings1985 non opto isolated is not industry standard; - I would deliberately cause a potential of 415 volts across such crap
@stephenhookings19853 жыл бұрын
@@MEANASSJAMSTER for 5 pin midi the standard is opto isolated. Many of the cheap USB with a 5 pin don't have such protection. They just wire direct most dont even have 220 ohm resistor. The first 3 I bought were to spec. I crushed one, kept other and gave one away. So I bought some more. Dropped sysex and poly aftertouch. Opened them up - unplugged immediately from my vintage gear. Now I have high quality gear interfaces. They work. I wouldn't waste my time on cheap knock off interfaces.

@@MEANASSJAMSTER totally agree. There again Louis Rossmann's been trying to get right to repair going for ages. Lobbying stops it. I just posted a YT on some experiments with reverse engineering a Zoom G1X Four USB pedal. So this is a decent piece of kit but no info on sysex that van control it. The Midi standard demands that sysex is published - but over the years this is no longer normal. All I want to do is work out the sysex for adjusting controls so I can build external Ardunio/Digistump or ESP controller for it.

Thanks for video. I am newby. How can I save these input data to a file on the input monitor? I can see the notes in the input monitor from my electric piano play. I want to save these stream of the notes and my piano play into such as a mid file but I can not find it how to do. I tested my electric piano and arduino leonardo and they work well. But I can not find how to save input data into files though I googled.

Use a DAW like Reaper, Cubase or get a hardware midi recorder. Sometimes you can get free program from a music magazine.

Thanks for this introduction. Is this tool still maintained, and can you tell a bit more about the mapping and other routing possibilities? Can you also use it as a Velocity editor (to adjust velocity output per key)?

I haven't tried it much yet, but check the discussion in this link, it seems that you can map velocity in an advanced way: www.midiox.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=Mapping;action=display;num=1050448660

Hi Nicola, Would you be so kind helping me to configure to send MTC from Cubase to Audition as well as inputing notes from my midi keyboard direct to Audition's Sequencer or through Cubase? I downloaded MIDI-OX and Midi Yoke 64 bits, and I'm afraid I get midi loops that freeze either Cubase or Audition. I would appreciate your help. Thanks Nicola.

so how do you get it to play the sound when you press the keyboard?

This software is just to transfer (or map) a midi signal. It does not "play sound" on its own. For that you need to transfer the signal to something that does "play sound" :)

If I understand you correctly, what you want to do is to see what's coming in. Then activate the "Monitor - Input" by going into Window > "Monitor - Input". Also, as explained in the video, you should activate the device (highlight your midi controller there) in Options > MIDI Devices. Once you did that, you should see all the midi signal going from your controller to your PC in the Monitor - Input window. Does that help you?

@@lululavignel J'essaierais d'abord d'isoler le problème. À mon avis, c'est sûrement un problème matériel. Le câble ne devrait pas poser de problème (d'après ta description sur audiofanzine).
