This is an example. I am recording drums realtime on midi which gives freedom to change kit (using Roland sounds and kits because I have again a lot of freedom editing skins, microphones and dynamics) after that the whole performance can be moved into separate audio files easily which gives even more options with channel effects and EQ to the mixing engineer. This is the most economic (no studio and instrument hire) and the most flexible way of recording drums by a drummer, catching all the playing dynamics and style and feeling. nothing close to making drum tracks with clicks or even drum pads which sounds very mechanical and most of the time too simple for a real drummer to play.
