Nearly perfect classic sounding trucker song. It's simplicity is what makes it so great with its jingle guitar accomplishment, steel guitar, awesome. Then Nashville got ahold of it for the album version and destroyed it with horrible over production. They made it feel modern. They turned it into garbage.

@@thomasschradle6183 Yeah I don’t know what they were thinking making it different. The feedback was not good on it and rightfully so. I’m just glad they finally released this version on their Sonic Ranch album.

I was a long haul trucker for years. This song embodies the feeling that I would get every single time I came down Monteagle Mountain and crossed over Nickajack Lake after 5 weeks and 2 west coast turns. Almost home again.

This song to this day is still the best midland song, the story behind this song, fits every music note. The truck driver, the last American cowboys. 💕 I say it with nothing but admiration for those who dedicate their lives moving America.

I quit listening to new country cause its not country anymore. Then I found Midland by mistake on KZbin. This is pure true country. My dad was a trucker his whole life. He passed away in 2016. He would have loved this song. Wish he was alive to share it with him But every time I here this song I think of him. Should be on number 1 on the charts.

@@closetcleaner In my opinion I believe real old school country has a lot of influence from Mexican/ Hispanic music. Also Mark (lead vocalist) was raised on a farm right across from the Mexican border. He has a very huge love and respect for the culture. If I am wrong some one please correct me.
@cantugabe
@cantugabe 3 жыл бұрын
@@closetcleaner Cowboy culture and Mexican culture share a lot of similarities and are even influenced by each other in many ways. Way back in the day when there was less problems and the border was open, people often went across the border back and forth for work or trade. It was common for a lot of Texans in the area to be fluent in Spanish and Mexicans to be fluent in English. There are several different sub-genres within country music and I would say Midland definitely falls into the Texas side of things. Texas is not so big on being "American". Not that it's bad but they just love being Texas more than anything. Being a Texan is also acknowledging the Mexican roots in some ways. I think it's great that they actually give a "shout out" to the culture.

it is beyound comprehension how this incredible band have had only five songs in country charts and only one top ten! just seen them live in uk they are very talented and haven't made a bad song. they have saved country music.

Had this blasting from Los Angeles to Phoenix while driving a box truck. Had 10 gears but i felt the spirit of this song. The desert, the heat, the long trip, couldnt ask for a better song for the road.

I never really noticed that until I read your comment, but now I see it every time I watch this video. I wonder what the significance of that is...

@@Udink I don't know if it's just a singing mimic or it's an acknowledgment or some kind of a greeting to the crowd in the room coming out to see them perform, even though no crowd appears in the video.

Not only is this version incredible, it’s one of my favorite country songs. Modern country typically doesn’t have good story telling like the old school songs do, but these Midland boys have some good song writing.

Who are the girls? They sound great, and they look like they might be sisters. Look here at 2:14. It's said that sibling harmonies are unique. While it's irrelevant to the music, they're both cute, but the one without the cowgirl hat is stunningly gorgeous. ; ]
