Excellent review. I purchased one also so I agree with everything you stated. I definitely appreciate the info and link for the belt clip. For a radio this expensive they should have at least thrown in the remote mic for it.

I don't like that the battery cannot be replaced. I don't like that the antenna cannot be replaced. I don't like the cost. I don't like the belt clip style. The radio looks nice though, and the protective case is great. I went with the Alinco DJ-G46 instead and I am happy with it.

Appreciate the review. What you get for you $200 is a far better design for the receive part of the radio and at least a good design for the transmit part. I can't speak for many of the other radios but the Baofengs have lousy transmitters that interfere with nearby services, and will open squelch on signals that they should ignore. All of the $50 and less radios use a single "system on a chip" direct conversion receiver, that is prone to interference. The Midland is a superhetrodyne receiver that uses more parts but works more properly. I figured you were going to mention the antenna. 🙂That's a direct result of following the FCC regulations to the letter of the law. I don't know why Midland is so strict on that, other than to guess that they had some trouble with the FCC in the past, and don't want it again.

I asked about how do you set a Midland up to talk to a repeater tower answer is no answer at all and e mailing them with a problum and thay don't answer SO I want to another radio no one know's about you talk to a real sailes person or a T E C in the back room.

@donalderickson-si8ww I use it with repeaters daily. Channels 15 through 22 have simplex and repeater settings predefined. Then you set the CTCSS (tone) or DCS settings for your TX and RX settings. Many older Midlands cannot do the repeater split, but this one is not one of them. I have no idea why Midland made non repeater capable GMRS radios, but they did.

I agree but disagree yes,usb c should have been on the radio but it would be a failure point I believe with falling in water because those rubber grommets wear out and break off, I have two dogtra training collars that that same grommet breaks off after opening it so many times charging it, I think they did a great job with it it’s built to hike with. Two yes the case is quality but a little bulky to fit in my back I think they could have compacted that case a lot more as it’s ment to be rugged and the wilderness

Excellent review and I totally agree. In addition to the GXT67, I regularly use several of the others you mention for both GMRS and Amateur radio. The GXT67 is a good radio. But dollar for dollar, the others are a much better value.

14:41 GMRS radio is not a hobby. GMRS usage is for a purpose (outdoor activities, small business use, etc). I get it a lot of HAMs and want to be HAMs are using to make contact with randos but that’s not what the GMRS band is for.

I have the same radio different brand it comes in two half's which clip to gether and the belt clip is bolted to the radio and thay sell a holster for it

The clip can be replaced...Fixed antenna...so what you're not going to get better reception. Can't remove the battery? Who cares. Can you remove the battery on your cell phone? Oops. Actually, all the other radios in that video have voice prompts. Matter of fact, seems like every cheaper radio I have bought has came out of the box with the voice prompts already activated. I have really enjoyed the Baofeng GM-15 Pro. It is a 5 watt radio that has a very nice feel to it and they are very well priced. You can pick up a two pack on Amazon for around $45.
