I've listened to what I call good country" for most of my adult life, and I am 64. The best of the best have a few things in common....great lyrics, great harmonies, excellent writing, and two pieces of the puzzle that are more intangible...the first is the ability to create a song that has "the sound" that conveys it is COUNTRY before the first 30 seconds are over, that the listener can latch on to and identify with. The second...the ability to make the song sound effortless; even though we all know it is far from it. These guys...they have it all.
