In fact, there are cases where the govvy just reworks it in their own (not necessarily better) way (like replacing a 45 degree entry ramp with a 90 degree entry ramp because they can’t be fucked to keep the old entry ramp in the name of cost cuts for more baksheesh)

100% true, in this instance people were just throwing their bottles in the woods. As for paper trash, I've noticed that since towns/cities have gone to automated trash pickup there's more paper that doesn't make it into the truck and it gets picked up by people or the wind moves it to empty lots/homes and accumulates there.

Great Job, it's for sure that sidewalk has been ignored for many years. Its also GREAT that so many people stopped by to express their thanks. What I couldn't help thinking was that wasn't there a govt dept in the town that was supposed to taking care of that. If so one may wonder if one or more workers that was being paid by taxpayers for doing that were sitting around in an air conditioned office while you were doing the job they should have done weeks, months, and even years ago. True. I started cleaning a small 3 block area next to my neighborhood last Fall. It was full of lots of trash and broken glass. It took me a long time to get it really looking good and now I go over there a couple of times a week to make sure it doesn't go back to the horrible state it was in. I even bought the block a 32 gallon rubber garbage can with a lid and bags to change out the full can periodically. I'm proud of how it looks now and a few neighbors have thanked me for my hard work. There r some who do keep their property nice, but there r a lot of large apartment buildings on these blocks with very little on-site maintenance or janitors to keep it clean. So many people don't take ownership and don't even seem to notice or care. I find that disheartening.

It amazes me that the city passes out fines for your citizen's yards being over grown yet they don' t take care of the city's property - such as this side walk. I have lived in several parts of Europe and Canada and have never seen or even heard of a side walk that looks like this. The city should be ashamed. This is the property owners responsibility in every place Ive lived in several states. They really should have sent citations and then the city cleaned this up and put the bill on the property owners taxes or a lien. But this is not something the city would maintain in most US cities

That looks phenomenal! Not only did you open the sidewalk back up for the people in that neighborhood, you took away a spot of blight that makes the whole neighborhood look unsafe. Overgrown sidewalks, unkempt properties just invite trouble. Study's have shown that crime doesn't like it when it doesn't have places to hide. Clean well kept areas tend to have less crime overall. So you literally helped make the neighborhood safer. It's not my neighborhood, but I thank you all the same.

👀 🤯 THAT was definitely a mind-blowing transformation, Sean! I'm not sure how to describe that sidewalk before you took it on except as a DANGEROUS & COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE‼️It must have been that way for many years! The city & those responsible for the safety of its citizens and the upkeep of sidewalks, streets, etc. should be replaced for failure to do their jobs!!! If that lot DOES become a park or playground, it should be in honor of you & named for you! You continue to make this old lady's Mondays something else to look forward to! Thank you for that! I noticed that most of the neighbors don't edge their sidewalks. Maybe they see this and start edging. It doesn't look finished without edging sidewalks, driveways, etc..... Maybe they don't even know what an edger is.

​@medicbabe2ID it does take a while to get your dog groomed because there's certain things that depend on it what breed the dog is and if the dog is feeling Cooperative that day to let the groomer do their work on them. Certain breeds have a lot of undercoat and I know that my mom's dog doesn't like the groomer doing her face and her legs.

@@PhoneGamerDude the city workers get paid and they don't do their job and if they do it's minimal effort, they also get benefits like guaranteed health insurance and pensions. Even then, you shouldn't have to get paid to help clean up YOUR own neighborhood that's just something good people do for free.

The reasons are many and various, people are busy with things they need to do, especially on weekends when is when Sean does these videos, also, after 30-40 years of the news outlets emphasizing the crimes committed in society I think people are generally more afraid to participate in society, they hunker down inside their homes and associate with friends and family, avoiding strangers

I live in the UK. There has been a recent story - the council have neglected to upkeep the public areas just like this. Locals got together to clean up their city. The council threatened to sue them because they said it was vandalism. The group leader was taking the rubbish home and adding it to her household rubbish. She was told she couldn't dispose of other people's rubbish without a licence and that she would be arrested if she continued to do so. You, and everyone like you, make such a huge difference. You do exactly what should be done by councils.
