It's been ages since I've studied German, but was able to pick up more than just "Hollywood", "Hollywood stars", and the names of some stars. If I watch a few times, I'll probably understand a lot more. This was fun to watch and the gowns were really lovely. Irene knew her stuff and having someone like Doris wear them was a real coup. Thanks for the entertainment.

It's so nice to see my sweet Doris Day in those wonderful feminine clothes and in an adorable movie like this!!!

I agree - the clothes and Ms. Day are stunning! The film, however was not as much adorable as harrowing. I remember reading that Ms. Day went into hysterics and couldn't be calmed for quite awhile for one of the scenes. Very suspenseful movie.

DD made for a great model as well as being an actress. The clothes she model were stunning as well as smart. Sometime I wish I could wear clothes like that. Women's clothes today are horrible.

The outfit at 2:32 wasn't used in the movie. But it's actually my fav look, followed by the white sequenced evening outfit.

I enjoyed "Midnight Lace" as much as I did "Dial M For Murder". Both had the blonde American wife with an English husband and a menacing "pawn". The creepy voice in "Midnight Lace" scared the bejesus out of me when I first saw it as a kid. I really felt for poor Doris. For that matter, I had great sympathy for Grace, too, in "Dial M". Thanks for sharing this fashion show.

Υeah, I have read about these scenes with Doris. She didn't act. They were real! But the movie belongs in my Top 3 movies ever!

This is the great designer Irene, who replaced Adrian as the chief designer at M-G-M. Her last few assignments were for several Doris Day movies, and sadly, having suffered from depression and alcoholism for years, she ended her life by jumping from a Los Angeles hotel room window.

How elegant women and clothes were back then. Gliding along looking so very beautiful. We all wanted to look like Doris - she was a wonderful example of how to address and behave. The models today could take a leaf out of her book. I despair when I see young girls stomping down the catwalk scowling.

Barbara Marx, much later Barbara Sinatra, can be seen at :11 - :28. Barbara was used by Irene as a model for designing the wardrobe for this film. She's also in the trailer very quickly.

Thank you, Peter. I just finished watching “Midnight Lace” on Turner Classic Movies. The fashions were fab so I searched here on the tube for close-ups. This video was exactly what I wanted! 😊
