Strangely, if you put a music CD in, it starts playing the tracks from the music CD. I wonder if it's because the truck motor sound is listed as "Track 1" Instead of having a name, and if you have a music CD in it plays the first song thinking it's the motor sound.

The controls were also slightly different between the two. On Big Rigs, the space bar was still the break, Just like MIdnight Race Club, BUT it also caused the truck to go in reverse, and faster than the real reverse button would. Midnight Race Club corrects this, so the space bar only acts as a break, but it adds a new bug. During infinite reverse acceleration, Big Rigs would instantly drop from Faster than light speed (literally FTL speeds) to a dead stop the moment you release the throttle. On Midnight Race Club, releasing the throttle doesn’t stop it. The vehicle continues to accelerate. This nonstop acceleration Effect appears to begin once the vehicle exceeds 500 MPH.

Just checked this out, and.. You're right, at least for what I can confirm. Took about 13 seconds to go from 0-160 MPH in reverse normally, but just 5 seconds with the spacebar. Wonder how that happened, lmao

This is the best video I have seen to date concerning The Big Rigs/You’re Winner phenomenon. Please do a video of Big Rigs Over the Road Racing. If this video is any indication, it will be terrific.

There are at least three version of Big Rigs floating out there. The original “You’re Winner” version, a second which added sound effects and changed the message to “You Win”, and a third that added the AI so your opponent can actually race you. Both of the later versions had the debug data in the lower left, but none had collusion detection, so Midnight Race Club stands alone in that respect.

Im seeing the word "Laziness" pop up a lot here. However, I'm wondering if it could be possible that the developers were not working on games as a full-time job and really they just shoehorned in time to work on this alongside their day-to-day lives in the countries they lived in. If they weren't paid and the whole thing relied on developers being told "Oh, we dont have a budget but there is an opportunity to have a game get sold in the USA, so if you work on it you can get hired on the next gig that comes along and then it can be your breakthrough as a full-time game developer at that point" that might have been enough to get a few people to cobble together the bare bones of a racing game and make this happen. Theres a difference between that and laziness

Speaking of laziness The floating back lights are clearly there because all the vehicles were remade from the Big rigs trucks that have these lights at this exact possition. The developer just re-modeled a truck into the car/bike and left the lights there LMAO

Neither Big Rigs nor Midnight Race Club need to be installed to work. The installer unpacks the files and adds an uninstaller, but that’s it. Once it’s unpacked, you can straight copy the game folder from the programs folder, and run it as is on any machine.

I had the same problem you had getting the game to run. I installed XP on a Virtual Machine and tried to run Big Rigs there, but it kept crashing on me. So I tried it on a Windows 7 VM, but it still crashed. After some experiments However, it eventually just started working on its own, just like yours did. Go figure. I found that they actually ended up working pretty well on Windows 10. Especially with real hardware. I figured they would run better on XP, since that was the flagship OS of the era, but that was not my experience.

Also, the Instagram post is already 2 years old so, who knows if it's still in the works.

That's correct. I have encountered three versions of Big Rigs so far. The last of the three had already removed "You're Winner" and added the AI that stops right before the finish line, along with sound. No collision detection though. You still phase right through every building. Adding Midnight Race club to the mix, and you can really see the evolution of the game. Which makes it even more shocking that it was released at all.

This game has a camera setting that even some modern games have, the height is too low, it feels like someone is behind the car with a câmera on its shoulder acting as the game camera. Also the car gets way into the center of the screen limiting what you can see, I hate games like these
