IMAX doesn't have a volume control. Where I work, literally the only way to turn it down is to put a sound cue after every trailer (they can't be back to back) that turns it down a few decibels. It took us a while to figure this out, and now we put one between EVERY single trailer.
@Seargent363

That makes no goddamn sense, especially seeing how trailers are suppose to be way louder than the actually film.

one movie theater told me that the audio settings were not able to be changed and hence if the system needs adjustment they cannot do it. I was thinking bullshit. you are either lying or you have the suckiest sound system if you cannot set it for each movie and theater.

In The Mummy, Russell Crowe's character(s) calls Tom Cruise's character a "young man." Guess who's actually older?
@tintinismybelgian
@tintinismybelgian 7 жыл бұрын
Maybe Russell Crowe's Jekyll/Hyde character is one of those characters who's over 100 years old but has some sort of curse/magic/science that stops him from physically aging. I don't recall anything like that being brought up in The Mummy, but if there's a sequel, maybe we'll find out.

A version of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen where each character's iconic story is released as a movie beforehand would be really interesting. Basically taking the MCU concept and applying it to a comic where every character is from a classic victorian novel... or novella in a few cases.

It's not that the universal monsters aren't scary they just need to make it less campy more gothic. Or use more practical effects vs cg. That's part of what makes the monsters so special to me...gothic and practical That's just me though.

Swift Nimblefoot I don't think that CGI is bad it's overused in horror films...showing the monster early lessens the shock thus makes it really boring to watch. Not talking sci fi films with Gurdains of the Galaxies one and two which you need heavy use of cgi and such

Fiver565 I think they're trying too hard to revamp their Monsters universe into an action franchise. I love the slow-burn feel of their monster films from the 1930s and 40s. Not that I don't like action, but I think they should just let those classics stand on their own

I have to laugh at the plot, because in Ancient Egypt, the power of the throne was believed to belong to the females of the family, which is why so many brothers married their sisters. Likely Ahmanet would have been married to her brother, or a half-brother from one of her father's concubines.

It Comes At Night is a movie about a young man having trouble dealing with adult situations set against a post apocalyptic backdrop, but it was advertised as The Walking Dead with less of a soap opera vibe. The audience in my theater left feeling tricked and depressed. I would probably have liked it more if I actually knew what it was going into it. That's probably why the critics score and audience score is so far apart of rotten tomatoes. Also, SPOILERS:: Who killed the dog and who opened the door?! Those were the questions that frustrated me. That shit just happened then everyone got sick and died. And why was the son drawing those creepy figures? Were these aliens or were those two attacker guys part of a larger group and tracked the group down?

I think the big problem with The Mummy was the timing: I noticed that Dracula Untold (which was originally going to start this Dark Universe) came out a year after The Conjuring and this movie came out after The Conjuring 2. If these movies started production after recognising the climate for horror with The Conjuring series, Don't Breathe, Get Out and Split, they might have had a better idea of what audiences want and what to do with the idea. For me, it's like Baywatch, I don't hate it, but it's still bad.

I worked in a movie theatre where when the volume was too loud, it was the same thing--for some god forsaken reason if you tried to correct it, it either whispered or eardrums were popping. So I say a design flaw... I mean FFS why make the sound that hard to fix?

Despite Mummy kinda sucked, I'm still very excited about how they are going to tackle the universe thing. Jekyll & Hyde is one of my favorite characters from British literature, and this film shows that Russel Crowe is not a bad choice. It hope there will be a solo film about his origin story that is close to the source material.

I don't understand why people are finding The Mummy remake to be complicated. -Ahmanet (the mummy princess) was going to lose her chance at the throne to her new brother (men of royal blood got first dibs, even if not the eldest child). So she killed him and the parents. [Although, why she didn't hire an assassin is a good point. But if she couldn't get to the throne with god-like powers, I'm gonna assume she'd fail with an assassin. Though, many royals tended to build up their immunity to poisons to minimize assassination attempts]. -Ahmanet turns Tom Cruise into is a human vessel for the Egyptian god Set. (In fact, that sand storm ability is based off of Set's domain). -At the end, Tom Cruise (Nick) wants to find a cure to the above curse. Granted there's a lot of issue with this movie, but I don't understand how that's one. :\ Are people not familiar with basic Egyptian culture or something? I mean, I'm not even that familiar with it, but I could at least follow the plot and back stories.

Dark Universe has the right premise going with this "cinematic universe". I like the idea of these movies being connected. They just need to find their own "Joss Wheadons, James Gunns, Jon Favreus" to make these classic monster movies work. I agree more practical effects less CGI is the way to go.

Hey, you have it easy, only getting a manicure. I took esthetics, and my poor boyfriend had to come in and get his nose, and inside his ears waxed, as practice. He drew the line, when they wanted a guy to demo a scrotum waxing on. He told me getting a nasal wax wasn't his idea of a good time, but the ear waxing was worse. However, he lucked out, as the other person who had it done as a demo, ended up getting some of the skin, inside her nose burned off.

I loved Wonder Woman even more than a fair few of the Marvel movies, but now they need to be consistently good now, if they want to keep going.

+Hanna Leifa The thing with Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and I'm going to include Damon Lindelof as well, is that they write their franchise movies like episodes of TV shows, very open-ended with very little self-contained story, especially with The Amazing Spider-Man 2. To The Mummy's credit, it does try to be self contained, but ends up going off the rails towards the end especially when the Mr. Hyde side of Dr. Jekyll comes in, because having Dr. Van Helsing would have been too subtle.

Just go watch the Brendan Fraser Mummy again. I rewatched it last night after I saw this hunk of crap. It's held up actually pretty well.

I feel like Tom Cruise is like Arnie in one way - he's best when he's doing big-concept sci-fi pics. (With Arnie you have "The Terminator" and "Predator" that are legit good, also stuff like "The Fifth Day" and "The Running Man" which I kinda love even though they aren't on the same level; with Cruise you have "Oblivion", "Edge of Tomorrow", "Vanilla Sky" which I kinda love even though it's flawed, etc.) I was hoping "The Mummy" would live up to "Edge of Tomorrow", but that's a really high standard to live up to. Sounds like "It Comes at Night" is more my jam!

That's my favorite Tom Cruise film and performance! Unfortunately it had sequels (which I utterly despise. The fifth "Mission: Impossible" movie was probably the best of the sequels - not that that's saying much, since they're all so damn bad, and my biggest memory of that one is still Cruise jumping into a giant stone sphincter.)

That's 2 now for characters having CG shit covering their face. I thought we already learned this lesson after Green Lantern.

Swift Nimblefoot I have a friend who says "oh yea" a lot when someone is discussing something with him. I think when people interrupt and don't acknowledge that they have cut you off that's when I get annoyed.
