When I first heard The Punch Brothers for the first time when they played at the Calgary folk Festival a few years ago, I was totally blown away by the sheer energy and dynamism of their performance - not to mention their outstanding musicianship. This young band hd the same affect on me - mind-blowing!!

Amongst the many other features, I had to chuckle at how the mandolin player employs the "mandolin-as-snare-drum" technique (left hand simply muting the strings, instead of forming actual chords) whilst singing...a technique I myself exploit... Damn they're good and good-looking!

Dunno that I would call D.M. a bluegrass band (dunno that they label themselves that way...?), but this band IS definitely a bluegrass band and have never heard an all-gurl band anywhere near this hot!!!
