All the shots were photographed in the northernmost part of Norway, in a place called Alta.
I have had these shots on my computer since the summer of 2011, and just never got around to edit it, until now =) The time lapse is "recorded" by shooting stills with my Canon 7D. with 15 sec. intervals. And then put together in Photoshop CC, and then Premiere Pro CC.

LEV’EL, adjective [Eng. sleek. Latin libella, libra, belong to the root.] 1. Horizontal; coinciding with the plane of the horizon. To be perfectly level is to be exactly horizontal. 2. Even; flat; not having one part higher than another; not ascending or descending; as a level plain or field; level ground; a level floor or pavement. ---Webster's 1828 Dictionary Flat water, flat earth. ONE universal horizontal, ONE universal vertical. “The upper surface of a fluid at rest is a horizontal plane. Because if a part of the surface were higher than the rest, those parts of the fluid which were under it would exert a greater pressure upon the surrounding parts than they receive from them, so that motion would take place amongst the particles and continue until there were none at a higher level than the rest, that is, until the upper surface of the whole mass of fluid became a horizontal plane. ” -W.T. Lynn, “First Principles of Natural Philosophy” (emphasis added) “The surface of all water, when not agitated by natural causes, such as winds, tides, earthquakes etc. is perfectly level. The sense of sight proves this to every unprejudiced and reasonable mind. Can any so-called scientist, who teaches that the earth is a whirling globe, take a heap of liquid water, whirl it round, and so make rotundity? He cannot. Therefore it is utterly impossible to prove that an ocean is a whirling rotund section of a globular earth, rushing through "space‟ at the lying-given-rate of false philosophers.” -William Thomas Wiseman, “The Earth An Irregular Plane” (emphasis added) "Waters (De aquis) 1. Water (aqua) is so named because its surface is ‘even’ (aequalis), hence it is also called aequor (lit. “level surface”...because its height is even.” -Isidore (c. 560 - 636), from page 276 of The Etymologies of Isidore of Seville “There are three classes of people: those who see. Those who see when they are shown. Those who do not see.” -Leonardo da Vinci

Alta is 69.99 degrees in North latitude so that is why the sun is roughly 3degrees off the northern horizon at summer solstice. The harbour at Alta faces to the north across the glacial fiord inlet. One would have to pray and be lucky for a clear weather day to see the event filmed here. There was some thin veil of cirrus cloud visible, which did not stop the sun being visible in the shots in the second scene.

It never gets darker than nautical twilight on the summer solstice. Sunrise is often around 4:30 AM and sunset doesn't occur until 10 PM. @@RingRoadSessions All of this footage was of the northern sky near midnight. Alta is located at 70° N or 20° away from the North Pole. This means that the Sun's height above the horizon throughout the day will change by 20 + 20 = 40° or from 3.4° to 43.4° on the summer solstice. On the equinoxes that change goes from 20° above the horizon to 20° below it (normal day-night cycle) and on the winter solstice from 3.4° to 43.4° below, also known as the polar night when the Sun never rises.
