I love the combat in this game, but the missions are so unbalanced that I had to change the difficulty more than once, and after 50 hours or so I decided I had my fill.

That’s fair! In retrospect I wonder if my *not* running into balance issues is because I had the DLC - there’s a mechanic added where you can shove enemies into one another when moving that I didn’t realize got added w/ the first DLC bit that might make the missions balance more manageable. IDK tho

@@Spikerzky I’ll try that. I pretty much dial the difficulty down when I’m forced to bring Spider-Man. I didn’t invest in him; and I accidentally over leveled, and he’s not a heavy-hitter. His CC is highly situational, and well, CC feels like a waste considering other characters can just one shot the same enemy instead of casting bind.

@@Dank_EngineLate to mention this, but Spider-Man is probably one of the best characters oncr he's leveled and has his legendary. He gets a card that turns three of his next cards free, his first environmental attack turns free, and over all he can suddenly become a character that can decimate entire rooms all in his own. A bit of time investment in his friendship, and he becomes a powerhouse.

For me, this game was going to be interesting, then I played it. I wanted to play a fun card builder with heroes and a storyline I assume wouldn't just rehash the MCU (even if the dialogue did) but the idea of waiting FOREVER to get through the boring team building stuff made me put the game down for long periods of time. I eventually finished it over the course of maybe 8 months playing a little bit a night for a few days then taking months off. If I could just play the missions back to back from beginning to end, with the cutscenes in between, I would've enjoyed it. The HUB world stuff was the worst aspect. Plus it ran poorly, but I was playing it on Xbox One after the backwards port. Maybe I'll buy it again, cheap, on ps5 and see if it runs better.

Playing it in small chunks over 8 months sounds like a way better way to experience it, honestly - everything about the structure outside of combat feels very mobile-gamey enough that might work!

I absolutely hate the character models back at the mansion, some them are monstrously over jacked to the point of ridiculousness
@SpikerzkyСағат бұрын
Honestly, the mansion models didn’t bother me; after playing the studio’s XCOM games they were about what I expected. That Firaxis art team can do armor and aliens extremely well, but Normal Human Faces and Proportions are always wonky. Weirdly plasticky Tony with his Tom Selleck mustache made me feel right at home 😅

I had to cancel my pre-order when they decided to sneak Denuvo in just before release. Dirty business

…well, some weird performance issues I had suddenly make a lot more sense. 😑

Yea, I was a bit more pissed when I had bought the game and then after the fact added DRM, which broke modding and Cheatengine use...in a single player game. Haven't reinstalled since

I freaking loved this game, but I knew once I stopped playing I would never pick it back up again. I liked that the combat worked well and I felt like these were elite superheroes when I played them. The *everything* outside of combat was hit and miss for me. Maybe I'm just too old for these sorts of games, but I found it tiresome to go around and find the little dodads or special items. Being that I know most of these characters I found the writing to be serviceable and fun at times. I just haven't had this much fun playing a superhero game in a long time. Also, it knew when to be _cheesy_ and hammy with it's dialog. It didn't feel like this game took itself too seriously and it was fun.
@SpikerzkyСағат бұрын
Nah, you’re not too old, so much of the doodads are not very important or necessary so it all feels like poorly spent time. But you’re right on the combat- it whips, and they way they made card combat Feel like punchy superhero fights is great. If they stripped out most of the Abbey stuff and made the game more focused, I’d be loving it too!

I went into this game with such low expectations that I actually really liked it. I don't disagree with the points you raised, I was just able to tolerate or ignore most of the dead end features as I just had so much fun playing a super hero tactics game. I am admittedly a bigger fan of marvel than you, but that fandom has not survived the post Endgame tv era (Loki, Moon Knight, etc.).
@Spikerzky9 күн бұрын
To be fair, the tactics part DOES whip - if everything else doesn’t bother you what you’re left with is damn good! I’m just a stick in the mud about the rest lol

The card element increases is fun. The friendship stuff I agree with. Sorry you don’t like the card increases they change the game in a massive way

interesting game idea muddled by terrible characters, terrible dialogue, wasting the midnight sons for mcu-ism and just being mid
