The original paperbacks had the same covers as the hardcovers. I got those when they first came out. I also have a few of the first edition hardcovers. One of mine might be signed. I can’t remember. Wasn’t in person.

I still remember seeing all these books on a shelf together at the Boston Public Library, and me just looking for something to read. Oh. man, in for a penny in for a pound. Loved them.

Fortuitous. I finished my first re-read of MT yesterday. I found it a very tight book. I enjoyed Tehol a bit less, and pitied Rhulad a bit more.

I really like Malazan, but I am a complete Seven Cities Stan as well as Darujistan fanatic. Which means Midnight Tides is not one of my favorite Malazan books since it is the first book to take you away from those two regions. On a positive note, I will say that I think this might be the first Malazan book that Erickson's humor starts to be really on display. The first several books, over all, taking themselves much more seriously. While this book is dripping with satire and jokes. And while they won't always for for me, they definitely did here.

As you progress, you will realize that Midnight Tides is not a side quest. It's literally where things start to come together -- as they say "convergence".

Hi! I have the Midnight Tides trade paperback Bantam Press edition. It is purple and has a few big gnarly dudes on the cover. What do you think of that cover, if you have seen it? Dope or undope?

Bloodthirsty, murderous. Why use simple everyday words when you can be pretentious heh. I hate it when they do that. There are other more “elite” genres for such vocabulary.
