This would also be really fun to make as a tree skirt for Christmas. Just leave out the center part and add binding to the inner circle. Cute idea to make a matching tree skirt and table topper for a gift. Thanks for the wonderful video! You're awesome and now I want pizza!

As long as you can drop the feed dogs, you can free motion quilt on any sewing machine. Check your manual for that feature.

loriar1027 generally I would....... but this sewing machine is new to me by via inheritance I don’t have a manual with it but the feed dogs can be dropped and I’ve been KZbining everything I can about it my aunt, grandma, mom and myself all used singer foot operated sewing machines to make civil war ball gowns and clothing for civil war rendezvous we also used to spin our own thread on a spinning wheel and loomed our own fabric my main focus at that time was just spinning threads and looming fabric I did some sewing but not a lot at that time..... since the passing of my grandma and aunt I’ve been mainly working with skins and hides but I have bolts and rounds of fabric that is absolutely amazing that was loomed by myself and aunt and grandma I thought it would be great to make a commemorative quilt for my grandpa and mom aunt of the fabrics and threads that we all have spun and loomed and I appreciate your reply very much!!!!

Hi, I am a new quilter and I have a big problem, hope someone can help me PLEASE!I I have finished my quilt top and I added two borders, but I must have stretched the fabric of the inner border as I ironed it . I sewed the outer border on to the first and Now my quilt does not lay flat on my batting. Can anyone help me with this problem please? I can resew the borders on again, however, I do not have anymore material of the fabric I stretched. :( Thank you in advance for your help. Reba
@debbiekanavel51965 жыл бұрын
Once you're ready to add borders, measure the length of the quilt through the center, not on each side. Cut the border pieces the same length as your length measurement. Ease them in, don't stretch them, and they will fit perfectly--no waving borders.Repeat for the width.

Why can't you just keep the patterned fabric in a rectangle, sew contrasting solid bands on top and bottom to make a stripe, and then cut the wedges afterwards with a ruler, alternating with the direction each time? It'll save so many scraps and be way quicker. And also, how come the inserted panels finished with raw edges They probably should have been turned in? Usually your patterns are really good, this one seems just really strangely designed.
@patdahme45735 жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing. And I don't see how using the quilt as you go method saves time in this case. It is a small table topper. You would probably have a better result of you just pieced the top, then quilted it.

This turned out really cute, not a fan of raw edges, but easy to change that.If you know the finished size, why start with such large pieces of batting and background? Seem to me a great deal of wasted fabric in this project. Or you just made more scraps.

What raw edges?
@2Peachcobler5 жыл бұрын
loriar1027 There are raw edges around the centerpiece and the two wide strips that were fused to connect all the wedges. The edges were not turned under when she sewed them on top of the batting . If you look at them when she quilted it you can see the loose threads from the fabrics. I'm not the only person who commented on this fact.
