For Christmas this year my wish is to gather books, patterns, supplies and tutorials so I can teach my granddaughter to sew like my Granny taught me. Sewing and quilting together is a great way to bond with family and it leaves such precious memories.

I have to tell you, I was making a Christmas gift, and had to choose between background fabrics. The one I decided not to use, I found myself telling, “don’t worry, it’s not rejection- I’m just saving you for a really awesome quilt!” And then I laughed as I realized I watch a lot of the MQS! 😂 For my wish list, I’d love all the Craftsy classes. They’re so much fun!

My main wish is one that can only happen in my heart and that is to talk and hold my husband one more time... miss him and our twins dearly and to get through a Christmas Day without any tears.... Having never used a sewing machine in my life, I am ever so grateful to a friend that started me on this quilting journey after my husband died 3 years ago. Quilters are such wonderful people and the fellowship and friendship is inspiting.

Jenni I am sorry to hear about your loss, I know how difficult holidays can be. I lost my dad dec 9, 2016 (nov 6, 2016 my parents just celebrated their 57th anniversary). 5 years ago my dad bought me a new sewing machine & caddy with all the goodies needed for sewing. Most of my life I (we- husband & 2 kids) have lived with my parents as I have extream separation anxiety with my dad. He was always there to help with everything. We didn't have any extra room to set the machine up and so it still has never been opened. Now the we are in our own home I have many quilt projects I'd love to make. I have fabric as well. I'm holding on to a memory but know my dad would be happy watching as I make a beautiful quilt for friends, family & grandkids. Every time something broke, was lost or stopped working my dad would always go get me a updated version of what I no longer had. We went to Vegas for our 11yr anniversary (we drove with our kids from northern Oregon) my parents had never been so they flew down to meet us. The day we were leaving my husband had our camera w/ 2 memory cards and over 360 photos, when daughter & I came back from bathrooms it was gone. I stood in middle of circus circus with my head buried in my dads chest crying like a baby. We took folks to airport then we headed on our way back home. I didn't speak to husband the whole way home- 2days. We got home and didn't even get in the door before my dad said there was something on table for me- a new camera. Well the sewing machine I had wasn't working properly and once I find it (we moved and still not unpacked) I will take it to shop for deep cleaning. I to found sewing/quilting is therapeutic but I feel good because I'm making things to give as gifts. I have never seen or heard anyone who quilts not be helpful to someone asking for help. I have a quilt my moms great grandma made, all by hand. Sadly the material is very thin and worn through in spots so it is kept out away in airtight container. One day I would love to try my hand at hand quilting. Wishing you best of luck. ps: sorry for over sharing it's my process of accepting my dads passing.

For Christmas I would love a mini iron, a big cutting mat, that little roller and fabric lots and lots of fabric. You can never have enough fabric. On the 12th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me 12 spools of thread 11 quilt patterns 10 sewing machine needles 9 grided rulers 8 marking pens 7 pairs of scissors 6 quilting stencils 5 yards of fabric 4 rotary cutters 3 seam rippers 2 boxes of pins And a long arm quilting machine Merry Christmas Y'all and Happy New Sewing

My Christmas wish list is a long arm machine, the mat with ironing on one side and cutting on the other, a set of neutral Aurifil threads (or one of each color 😇). I bought a cricut explore air II almost 2 yrs ago and it's never been opened. I am scared to death of messing it up. I also got the Gemini jr. From companion crafters it is a die cutter machine but sadly still in box and I have 2 other things that are still in their boxes 1. Electric photo frame & 2. Forgot name of it, but it is a hand held wand scanner. I can use it to scan anything and keep it saved to a chip, there is a cord that connects right to computer to upload images. It literally is 3inches wide and about 15in long with depth of about 2ins. One of these days I will figure it out.(also have brand new sewing machine that's never been opened)

For the bigger picture I would like Peace for our crazy world! Then to be selfish I would like for my grandson be able to speak as he has been mute since birth. Now for my personal pleasure enough time to finish all my ufp (un finish projects) Just had surgery on my eyes praying it all when well enought to do my hearts desire and spend all day in my craft space. Deanna Scott , my grandson, didn’t speak for his first four years. He had a syndrome called Appraxia. This meant that he understood us but couldn’t get the words. We started teaching him sign language when he as soon as we realized he couldn’t speak(about 8 months). We also stated him in speech therapy at18months. The first words he spoke were the words he learned through signing. There are some wonderful signing for children dvds online. I hope that some of this information will be helpful and I will hope for the best for your grandson. Ann Madison

I only do straight line quilting on my domestic machine using a walking foot and send everything larger than a baby quilt to my marvelous long armer, BUT, I just bought a Brothers Dream Quilter 15 with the Dream Frame!! My sweet husband put it together & now I don't know what the heck to do or where the heck to start. Love your new quilt and love, love, love your Midnight quilt show...I hope you keep making them for us. My sewing machine is getting pretty old and tired...so maybe a new Bernina. Other than that my husband has to have some serious surgery next week...so for him to get through it with flying colours would be my real Christmas wish!

My Christmas wish is to be just like YOU ! LOL, your good cheer, humor and skill brightens my day. As a Grandmother of 6 raising 3 little ones full time and working full time my head spins and just now in my life I can only dream about getting back to quilting as you know it can be consuming. Veronica, l can sympathize. I've had custody of our grandson since he was 3 months old. I finally retired when he was 7 months old, he's now almost 20 mos. I miss my 'my' time the most. I run for my sewing maching as soon as I put Leo down for his nap. Videos like Angela's have taught me so much and given me confidence to try new things. We've got this!!

All I want for Christmas is for my children and grandchildren to be safe, warm and happy. But if money was no object then a new long arm machine, thread in every color and material in all kinds of crazy colors would be my list. Added to that would be some cool new gadgets to play with to help the sewing process. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!!
