For my money, late 70s NFL was the best. I was big AFC guy and NBC’s presentation of games was big part of.

@@johnblair8146 The late 70s/early 80s NBC version is this exact song with the vocals stripped out. (And this song was made by the writer of the original theme from the original 1973 theme.)

I remember NBC playing this when signing off after the 80 world series ended. Even sounds like a TSOP song, very fitting.

Yes I remember from late 70s nfl football..right at end of great steelers run ..that was a fun time to b a steelers fan..greatest team ever assembled that won 4 titles in 6 years

The thing I don't get is that back in 1973 NBC used this melody (obviously not disco) for their NHL coverage. That was before this record was released. So did Midnite Flite rip off NBC? What's the story of this.

I found out the answer. The writer of the 1973 NBC theme basically wrote and produced this song from his 1973 theme.

@@richcarreiro9594 to my recollection there was 4 versions of “Don’t Turn Away” song for NBC, mostly for their NFL AFC coverage. The initial version was used for various NBC sports telecast. Loved them all except for version they started using around 82.
