The Mido Ocean Star Day-Date is encased in stainless steel surrounding a blue dial on a stainless steel bracelet. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds, day, and date. The watch also measures 42.5mm in diameter, 11.9mm in thickness, and 49mm from lug-to-lug.

Even considering Seiko options, this is the most impressive new dive watch that you can buy for under $1,000 U.S. In the hand and on the wrist, this watch felt and looked the part of a $4,000-$5,000 Breitling, Best, Tim

Got one for $600 from Amazon recently. I will say as good as these videos and captures are of the timepiece, they don't do the watch justice vs on hand, on the wrist, playing with the light. It its very substantial looking , finely finished and the bracelet is superbly comfortable. I bought it to be a daily beater so as to not put so many miles on the finish of my Tag Aquaracer, but i feel like its too nice...lol That's how nice it looks and feels, i thought it would look more understated than it appears but i'd wager it will play duty as a dressy diver too.

It's my favorite diver too. Of course i only *have* two, the rest being GMT pilot watches. Mine is the beautifully dark metal Titanium; the ratcheting clasp makes it my #1 Summer watch by far.

This and the Seiko SBDC051 are my favourite divers under $1000. The fact that this has a ratcheting clasp is a huge plus and might give it "the victory" when it comes to which I'd choose. (In a cold climate, adjusting for wrist expansion/contraction is simply necessary IMO.)

that diver extension is fitting on a dive watch, yet rarely found on many competitors in this price class. It's slicker than possum jism, as they say. Also, the dial is elegant without having unnecessarily cluttered words on it. The 600 version has a drain hole to prevent bezel corrosion, a locking bezel that works by pushing down, and most of all, a COSC movement.

Mido is one of the more underappreciated brands, I'm glad to see it getting some love. I sold my Mido to help fund other watch purchases, but I'm really wanting another one.

It's worth returning to the brand. These are $500-700 pre-owned, so the financial exposure is minimal for the amount of fun you get with an Ocean Star. It even has a cool vertical satin dial that beat Omega's new "Denim" Railmaster to market by two years! Best, Tim

I was debating between this and an Oris Diver 65, just last week. Still waiting to pull the trigger; either way unprecedented bang/buck on both watches. With optinos like Mido, Oris and even up to Tudor price point out there I wouldn't even consider Breitling as a 10th choice.

Igor Vyshnianchyn maybe he wants both and can’t decide which to buy first. you may be talking grey market because this cosc Oceanstar is 1700 and an oris 65 is about 1900 on strap or 2100 on bracelet .

Mihai Racolta personally I think it’s placed a nudge above tissot but the general public is more aware of tissot so it’s seen as a better brand. I’m pretty sure swatch has mido above tissot and I would probably put it in the same category as Hamilton. But I do know mido pursues cosc watches more than both Hamilton and tissot so that’s why I’m saying it’s probably a bit better than tissot.

It depends on your personal taste and what kind of watch you like, internally, they’re almost the same, since they’re from the same watch group, both have 80+ hours reserve (not COSC), the Seastar have 300m depth resistant and the Ocean Star 200m. Aesthetically they’re very different tho, the Tissot Seastar is a bolder and sportier watch meanwhile the Mido Ocean Star is a slimmer sport watch with a dressy and classy touch. So it depends of what are you looking for.

They did the hard work trimming the case thickness down to 12mm then mess it up with a whopping 50mm lug to lug ???? And 80hr reserve or not a Any automatic dive watch over 700USD Should have a 28800bph movement..If Glycine, and Alpina can do it .So can Mido.. Great build quality especially the bracelet.. But they dropped the ball with the movement and wing span.. Better luck next time Mido..

Siam Watch Addict I think you want a glycine or Alpina. This is a different watch. What’s the point of wanting a different brand but wanting them to have the same specs as another watch? Lot of brands have been lowering the bph to achieve longer power reserves and nothing is wrong with that. Even the lug to lug is fine I actually like how the crown guards transitions with one arc to tapper to the bracelet. this is a good diver watch for people who want something different from a less known brand within the swatch group.

I have the 600 m WR version, it has the chronometer certificate and in despite of the 21600 vph runs with less than +1s/day of deviation. It has got a superb quality, it's built like a tank, tough as nails and also beautiful.
