Saruli Gatekeepers recovers lost tempo and turns you into the aggressor allowing the deck to push for damage: +7 life isn't relevant only vs. fast aggro since it slows down your opponent's clock and puts him under threat of Basilisk Gate's pressure

interesting build, thank you for the video! a point on piloting it seems to me you consistently over-extend onto the board when it might have been better to pressure with your gate pumps on tokens... when you do this it creates havock for you opponent. Also with this I would have played the deck more with prioritizing playing chrysalis and pumping up spawns which is a massive issue for other decks to play against... I know you are largely a combo pilot so i wonder if you were excited about all the re draws! :)

eg. round 3 50 mins are forced to go tall and not wide and it actually works nicely... such a good synergy with the token generation and the gates which means you are so often presenting threats.

Dust to Dust is essential to stop Grixis Affinity: this deck struggles against Kenku Artificer and I decided to maindeck both Journey to Nowhere and Cast into the Fire in order to have an edge against a gazillion Myr Enforcers played via Blood Fountain shenanigans

Journey to Nowhere is good as a 2-of as it permanently and unconditionally gets rid of Gruul's fatties while also giving a solution to Kenku Artificer - I used to play the full set but Thraben Charm is versatile albeit lacking the removal capability of the enchantment

Armadillo cloak might be interesting, itwas played in an older version to give life gain and trample. Although that version had Guardian of the Guildpact and Silhana Ledgewalker.

I think Rancor may be better with this version as you get it back if the creature dies (think the Eldrazi Spawn for example). With Guardian of the Guildpact only Armadillo worked because it was two colors, so it could enchant the Guardian. Fists of Ironwood is also a nice option as it creates two tokens that can be buffed with Basilisk Gate and attack.

I almost wonder if Siege Smash is good SB or even Mainboard here? With the amount of chumpers or good blockers out there it can trample over pretty reliably, and with the amount of artifacts in the format right now it getting around deadly dispute draws and relics/spellbombs helps against affinity as a bonus.

Hi Kalikaiz, been playing this deck since January with a >74% WR and I'm glad you decided to give it a try: I think Naya Gates is much stronger than people think and Malevolent Rumble is such a busted card! A few questions: 1) I tested Writhing Chrysalis too but it felt underwhelming as I missed Saruli Gatekeepers' role to swing the tempo in our favor - don't you think the Gatekeepers should be maindecked? I never played less than 2 and aggro decks are literally a bye 2) Don't you miss Inspiring Overseer, too? I see you're playing Militia Bugler but flying won me so many games I can't even remember the actual number 3) What do you think about Thraben Charm? Aren't you afraid of turn 2 Exhume or fast Tolarian Terror? Journey to Nowhere works in both situations and doesn't require 4+ creatures in play (since your opponent can respond with Snuff Out and it'd be a risky play) Sorry for the lenght of my comment but I'm so excited to see my pet deck played by a famous streamer - and congrats on your result, too!

Since Thraben Charm is pretty strong, many decks now have a maindeck way to destroy enchantments: Journey to Nowhere has become weaker indeed, but it can be found with Malevolent Rumble and also takes care of big creatures for two mana without overextending 4) Thraben Charm is good as it provides maindeck graveyard hate and instant speed removal: it's like a buffed Dawnbringer Cleric, but having to depend on the board state makes the removal mode a liability in certain situations. I play only 2 copies because Charm can be bad if you're behind 5) Cast into the Fire deserves an explanation. I used to maindeck Smash to Dust as a way to deal with Faeries/Mono Red Kuldotha/Boros Bully/White Weenie but the new list had only 2 Journey to Nowhere and Kenku Artificer needs more than 2 answers. So, I replaced Smash to Dust with Cast into the Fire, which is still useful in the aforementioned matchups while being better vs. Affinity, UW Gates and Altar Tron ------- I think this deck has solid matchups against the majority of the field: I've been playing only in paper competitions and apart from Glee Combo and Flicker Tron I never felt at a disadvantage. Naya's best matchups are Terror, Mono Red Kuldotha and Rakdos Madness, but Affinity is pretty good, too - even Gruul Ponza is not as bad as it seems, so that covers a lot of the meta share ;) P.S. - Please let me know how the deck is performing, RNicoF played my very same list and went 5-2 at a Pauper Challenge a few days ago!

@@kalikaiz i tried a similar idea but with jund gates. With eviscerator's insight and siege smash. I think i went 3-1 in our lgs. Although i was not running writhing chrysalis then. My main threat was guildsworn prowler, avenging hunter, and thorn of the black rose. A deathtouch creature with a split second trample effect steals games.

Problem with the matches against affinity is that you keep on dumping your hand into their Krark-Clan Shaman. Play more conservative and use your gates to try to punch in with big dudes.
