Just got my Midronome through the door. This was a great manual, thanks! I'm no expert but it really feels like you've thought of everything.

Does this function as a midi interface as well? Will i be able to send midi notes through this or is this only good for syncing sequencers? Often times have issues with latency in larger sessions when sequencing from a daw.
@simntonic
@simntonic 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for asking! :) Yes this can send MIDI Data as well. You send it over USB from your DAW and it will merge it with the clock (nicely, without affecting the clock as this is the whole point of the device), and send it on its two DIN-MIDI ports. See the Midronome User Guide for more info. Note that only these MIDI messages are simply forwarded when they are received, their timing is not changed. So if your DAW sends them with a lot of latency and/or jitter, the Midronome will forward them with the same latency/jitter. Actually this is a problem I plan on tackling as well - eventually - with the U-SYNC software which can generate a very precise MIDI Clock from your DAW (through the Midronome) ;) Cheers Simon

I have only one needed function, and that's to take midi clock in from my controller and generate a click on stage. The tempos and time signatures would be stored in a bank of song settings on my controller, and started/stopped by my controller. We don't use a DAW. It looks like this would do it when pared with the "MIDI-IN add-on module (coming soon)" mentioned in the FAQ on your site. Would that work and is that available? Thanks!

Congrats on a great device! I’m thinking of preordering, but it won’t be shipped till next year, correct? I own USAMO from Expert Sleepers, but it only has one output.

Is it possible to add LFO options to the CV or even MIDI out in the future? That would definitely increase my interest haha. Also, how would one sync Midronome to an iPad OS Daw? It would be cool if your VST could be ported to Auv3 in future too! 😊

Hi :) I am confused where you got the idea the orders will ship next year? The order page says "The Midronomes are ready to ship" - they ship within 1-2 days usually :) I'll update that to make it clearer, thanks. Sync with DAW is constantly changing and evolving, there are already quite a few solutions depending on your DAW. Firmware 2.0 is coming with a new feature which will give the possibility to use other DAW plugins like the E-RM multiclock plugin for example. You can have a look at the "sync with DAWs" manual on www.midronome.com/support if you want - and on the Facebook group (link at the top of the website) there has been quite a few people who synced their Midronome to an iPad. Cheers Simon

can midronome would be patched to a merge midi interface and sync more than two midi divices and work as stand alone with no computer? for example i have two moogs one dreadbox one ableton push3 and a boss rc505 mk2 looper, can i sync all of them to the same tempo for rocordind them to the looper and work all of the hardwares like MPP and run at the same position at the same beat at the same bar? thank you and greetings!
@simntonic
@simntonic Жыл бұрын
Hi :) You can definitely use it without a computer. And yes you can merge the clock with other things, though it might move the clock messages (it should not affect timing unless you start merging a lot). Soon will the hardware modules come for the Midronome, in particular a simple MIDI IN module where you'll be able to use the Midronome for merging. Syncing the machines to same beat and same bar that should be fine as well as long as you start them from the Midronome (they need to react to "MIDI Start" message). Then they will be in time with each other, as well as being in time with the Midronome's metronome. As for syncing the looper as well - that is a bit more of a challenge because loopers are generally bad at following MIDI Clock. There has been quite a few discussions about loopers on the FB group - facebook.com/groups/midronomevip/ - I'd suggest you join and have a look there ;) Cheers Simon

I saw a ti torial that a user merged it with a midi solution thru interface. He merged 3 devices, and it was great! I understood everything, and thank you very much, but one last question, if I start all of my devices from Midronome and they play with the sequencers and stop one of the device if I will start it again, for example, when the other devices are at third beat of the bar, does this device will follow the other from the same point like spp?
@simntonic
@simntonic Жыл бұрын
@@Metaxasofc Unfortunately not. Whenever you press play on the Midronome, it will start the device on the next bar (so it's in time with the metronome and the other machines) - but from the beginning. You can also hold the Play button down to resync/rewind a sequencer while it's playing. And you could activate the Reset mode so that when you press play all devices (and the metronome) is reset and starts right away. Quite a few options - a bit too many to discuss in a comment :D Feel free to have a look at the PDF manuals to get more details, and I'm sure you'll find a configuration that suits you at the end ;) Cheers Simon

Hi! I don't understand one thing. It can send clock to a synth with sequencer WITHOUT play the synth. For example: I have a minilogue, i want to send clock to it but i want to press play on the minilogue at half of the song... Another question: I can use it with Korg Minilogue and Arturia Microfreak?? Thank you
@simntonic
@simntonic 11 ай бұрын
Yes that's the way MIDI Clock works - when MIDI Clock is received it does not start the sync, it just sets the tempo. The device waits for a MIDI Start message to play. When you press play on the Midronome your devices will start on the next bar (based on the Midronome's metronome) - this can also be reconfigured so they start right away. And yes you can use both Minilogue and Microfreak with the Midronome, you can even reconfigure the Mute button so that you have 2 play buttons, one for each of your device ;) Let me know if you have any other questions! Simon

Hey! Bogdan from Romania here. Greetings! I have a quite important question. When I'm playing in a live-jam context and my mates accelerate the tempo, will tapping the tempo on a pedal correct the resulting phase offset, too? Or will it only adjust the bpm without changing the phase, so I'd have to stop/play again? That phase correction is really one of my greatest wishes for such a device. I'm using a Ploytec One.2 pedal at this time, that works well, but doesn't offer any display or anything. Also, does it have some Ableton Link functionality? Thanks!

Hey Bogdan, thanks for asking ;) ---- FYI, for whoever is reading this: we spoke about this over email and Bogdan created the topic in the forum - forum.midronome.com/viewtopic.php?t=129 --- Regarding Ableton Link, that will come in the future add-on module, so it will not be included in the one shipping in March 2023 ;) Cheers Simon

I am using my keystep pro and I have 4 instruments. 1 drum machine and 3 synths. How do I connect them and to ableton?
@simntonic
@simntonic 3 ай бұрын
With a Midronome I would suggest: 1) sync the Midronome to Ableton with U-SYNC 2) connect the MIDI ports of the Midronome to your gear, using a simple MIDI Thru box (for example "Kenton MIDI Thru 5") 3) the Midronome will send the clock to your devices, and any MIDI messages (notes, CC, PC, etc.) sent from Ableton can be merged with the clock and forwarded by the Midronome Does that answer your question? Simon PS: better ask those type of questions on the Midronome communities (Facebook Group or Forums), you would get more answers ;)

Hi :) You can sync the Midronome to Cubase, not the other way around. For Cubase you should be able to use the new ARA plugin (see demo video), otherwise use the Sync File Generator (steps explained in the manual). Cheers Simon

Hey there I really excited about receiving this amazing device, have a quick question: with the cv can that be changed to midi , I have a controller device that only has cv pitch out, cv volume out and gate, I don't want to go buy a cv to midi converter, does the midronome do the conversion from cv out to midi?
@simntonic
@simntonic Жыл бұрын
Hi Bruce, thanks for the nice words! I am not sure I understand the question. The Midronome has both CV/Analog Clock output (two of them on one stereo 3.5mm jack) and two MIDI Clock outputs. There is no MIDI input, no CV input either (but the device might be able to sync to a CV/analog clock in the future). The idea is to use the Midronome as a master clock, everything else should be slaving to it. How did you want to use it? Cheers Simon

Great info! Is the decimal point precision feature still in there?
@simntonic
@simntonic 2 жыл бұрын
Hey there :) No this functionality is one of the "future functionalities" that might come as a firmware update. You can see the list here: forum.midronome.com/viewforum.php?f=11 The plan is to make a survey/vote asking which ones people want and then I will choose and start implementing the ones I think are relevant, releasing them as firmware updates. So just so it's clear: there is no guarantee. On the other hand the decimal point has been asked a lot already so I am sure it will be highly voted in the survey ;) Cheers Simon

@@Novolinemusic Sorry that you understood it this way - but I think you were one of the first to ask about this, though, we had plenty discussions about it? I am usually very clear about these - they are future features that might get implemented and come as firmware updates. I actually really like that one personally so that also pushes towards it being implemented. But I am only one person on this and I will have to start with what most people want, it would be unfair to do it otherwise ;) Simon

Hi! How will CV reset work? Is this the play/pause signal from the right side output mentioned in this video?
@simntonic
@simntonic Жыл бұрын
Hi Jonathan - sorry it seems I missed that comment :) The CV Clock (or "analog clock") can be configured to be sent constantly or only when the play button is lit (= when you press play it starts sending the clock, when you press again it stops). You can also configure in din/sync24 mode, where the left/tip part of the jack sends the clock, and the right/ring part of the jack sends a gate signal at 0V when not playing, and 5V when playing. Hope that clarifies things - if not please do not hesistate to ask (and send an email if I am not replying here ;) ) Cheers Simon
