Midsize Girl Tries Straight Leg Jeans | Lily Sugar

Hello! Have you ever thought a pair of jeans looked great on Instagram or Pinterest but you weren't sure they would suit your body shape because they're not in your skinny jeans comfort zone? Yep, I've been there. I've got a haul of size 14 jeans and today I'm busting the myth that midsize women can't wear all the jeans styles. I'm an Australian size 12-14 (that's a US size 8-10) and all the jeans I try on in this video are either a 14 or a 32 waist.

So I am usually a US 8 and needed a 32 in one wash of the Editor, and a 30 in a different wash, but the 30 in the straight leg topshop jean wouldn't even go over my knees! Absolutely bonkers

Absolutely bonkers!! I think I'd need more than a 32 for the Editor and a 32 in the straight leg but a 30 in their Jamie style, so frustrating when brands can't even get the fit right across their own styles!!

i feel u on the they are tight and hard to button up etc and u not sure if they will stretch enough so they comfortable enough to wear. im a mid size too and like the straight leg jeans style with high rise. i buy all my jeans from levis whenver they have sales (but still with sales soo expensive and or they out of stock in my size) ive maybe 3 jeans that are comfortable to wear all 3 are size 31 , one of them i wear the most often and they the most comfortable and even are more of a relaxed style now (which i like but at same time i feel like they a bit too loose around my hips and bum, where i wish they were a bit more hugging my curves so they more flatering ) then the other 2 are tight and not as stretched out but i also dont wear them as often. then all my other jeans are a size 30 and are sooooo hard to button and tight (but i bought them and kept them bc i thought yeh they tight but hopefully they will stretch and also i like the tighter fit bc it hugs my curves but at same time i dont even wear them bc they just so uncomfortable so now im stuck havin them,gonna have to sell them ,and hopefully get them again but in size 31 instead) sucks too bc i have to order online and cant try them on in store :c

Oh no that really sucks!! I've 100% kept jeans that I thought would stretch a bit and then they didn't stretch enough and I regret it so much but I've also bought jeans that stretched too much and became really loose (although you can still have those ones tailored). I just ordered the cotton on straight stretch jeans in blue based on your recommendation! I got the in a 12 (the larger of my size range) and they were about 2 sizes too small with no stretch! Just thought I’d let people know if they were keen to get them in blue - size up!!!

Oh no!! I'm so disappointed to hear that. I don't understand how sizing is so inconsistent for these brands. I always buy from somewhere that does free returns or try them on in store because it seems to be all over the place unfortunately. I'm so so sorry they didn't work out after I recommended them 😭

Thanks so much for this video. I have to say though, I am not yet convinced on the wearability of straight leg or even 'Mom' jeans. They make the butt look so long and cut off the leg. The only ones I thought were nice were the wide leg onces (if they fit better at the waist).

​@@clipinqueen definitely try them and see how you feel in them! I can't imagine other jeans styles not being available. I think there's a pretty wide range of styles that will always look good. Some variations on the straight leg styles (in denim and other pant fabrics) have been around in womens fashion since the 40s, slim leg designs and have been around since the 50s and floaty wide leg styles have been around since much earlier so while the straight leg styles are having a moment, I don't think your favourite styles will ever go out of fashion.

I know what you mean! The top part is great and universally very flattering but the bottom part is more a stylistic choice I think. I personally quite like it but definitely not for everyone!

That's so strange that they don't have a size guide for over XL! My waist is 32 inches and I generally get size 32 or AU14 jeans.
