My favorite thing with Midway was people saying the scene with Bruno Gaido jumping in a plane and using the tail gun to shoot at a suiciding Japanese bomber was "unrealistic" and "Hollywood" yet it 100% happened and Gaido got a promotion directly from Admiral Halsey for having such balls.

There hasn't been a conflict in human history as ballsy as World War 2, ever before or since. The amount of sheer unrequited ballsiness to dive vertically in an aircraft directly into explosive artillery fire and drop bombs while flying at like 260 miles an hour has not been seen since. Well I'll disagree. Going face to face with a man in a sword fight was a whole different level of savagery. You felt when the sword dealt the death blow. You heard his pain and screams. WW2 soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines had balls of steel for sure. But stabbing a guy was a different level of savagery. I'll ask that you look at the Battle of Alesia and see what the Romans and Celts did and what was accomplished it was savagery and impressive. And didn't occur at 260mph
