It is where most live videos are filmed, the Eventim Apollo Hammersmith london, its the gold piping around the sides of the stage that you notice, which is the original pipe organ from when it was a black and white silent movie theater .. Fun fact his long time house mate and the but of alot of this was Russell Howard

I have to jump in about the baking tray v wine glasses. I don't have OCD but John is soooooo right about this one. Always wash glasses, any type, first before the water gets greasy, otherwise they aren't crisp and clear, they have grease smears on them. Baking trays should definitely be last. They are covered in grease and burnt bits. Here endeth the lesson.

As an industrial cleaner and OCD sufferer, my motto has always been "Clean to Dirty". Start with the cleanest things and end with the dirtiest. This should be applied to everything, it's common sense. You wouldn't wipe the piss stains off a toilet seat, then immediately clean the handle.

I was interested in your comment about how relaxed he was. I've noticed quite a difference between UK and US comedians. UK comedians tend to rely mainly on their material being relatable & cerebral, delivered in a calm and explanatory manner. US comedians tend to try to whip up excitement in the audience by being loud and shouty. This is not a criticism but an observation.

In the UK it really varies from council area to council area to how recycling works. My council was one of the first to do recycling and so that tech wasn't as good as at some other places. So we don't do glass collection, but we had existing bottle banks around the neighbourhood (these have been around since long before curb side recycling), we also don't do food compost collection, but the good news is that they take pretty much all plastics and tins and papers, and we only have to use one bin. My parents live in the next authority over, and they collect everything there, but you have to put into a number of different bins.

Our local council "recycles" food. It goes into an "anaerobic digester" where it's broken down by bacteria and produces methane, which is then captured and used to create electricity. Once that's finished, the remaining matter is used as soil fertiliser. Some councils require you to separate out various different waste streams (cardboard, paper, plastic, cans, glass, etc.) into separate containers; others just put it into one container and collect it together, sorting it out later. Whilst the "one container" solution seems easier, it does have problems - for example, some people put things like empty food cans into their recycling container without washing them. The remaining food on the inside of the can then contaminates other items - for example, paper mills want clean paper for recycling, not paper that's covered in dog food. Keeping the waste streams separate limits the likelihood of cross-contamination, and results in better quality recycled matter which has a higher resale value.
@Hansen710
@Hansen710 3 жыл бұрын
Mixed plastic have no value, it cant be recycled, you need to sepperate the ones that can first If it can be sepperated from echother Food in plastick is not the big problem. Microplastic and that much of it cant be recycled so we just store it, is the big problem We are suposed to have 10 different trashcans in my country, but most citys does not have it. cause we cant use it right now, (unless we burn it) so we just store much of it for later.. Trashcans for recycling does sadly not solve most of our waste problem right now The dogshit container for my dogs shit or your food waste doesent make much sense when everybody in my city lives in houses and the have a garden But we have them, and nothing for our trash from the garden 😂 Some day it might make sense Many of the sepperated containers at the local dump ends up burning, they cant deposit it all for later generations And perhaps a filter on the chimney is better then deposting things that destroy the world slowly

Some areas have a box for bottles, plastic, tins, a bag for paper/cardboard. But the box is a free for all. John's OCD has a order for efficiency of space. Some areas have a second wheelie bin for recycling but uk houses are smaller on avg and don't all have gardens. Generally mixed recycling is either sorted as they collect or at a big plant later. Both by hand, only steel cans can be magnetically sorted.

A: Soak everything that's needed first (things with dried on stuff) B: Everything should get rinsed under a tap or in a plunge bowl/sink before being stacked for drying C: Dry things to avoid sitting water (this is SO obvious). D: Dry stabby things stabby end down (paring knife, chef's knife, sharp steak knives, etc.) E: Dry non-stabby things food end up (spoons, forks, normal knives) 1. Brush and rinse the bad stuff (gooey things that were soaked, and saucy stuff) 2. Replace water. 3. Wash see-through stuff (glass) 4. Wash shiny stuff (cutlery) 5. If you need to (you shouldn't) replace water. 6. Wash crockery 7. If you need to (hopefully shouldn't), replace water 8. Wash cooking items... pots, pans, trays. 9. Rinse sink and clear food catchers Optionals: 10. Polish cutlery (if that's your thing) 11. Lightly oil dried pans/woks (if that's your thing) 12. Strop knives before putting away (if that's your thing). It's not the only way of doing things, but it's the one that will make your life better in the long run.

I don't consider myself to have even minor OCD but i do have a strict regime for washing up, first the cutlery goes in the taking up hardly any space (no sharp knives yet) then large plates and small plates in to wash up first, then once the plates are done i'll do cutlery next then pop the sharp knives and any large utensils in just after. After that the bowls and cups go in. Once all that is done the water temperature has usually dropped and the water can be looking a bit icky, so the sink is emptied and rinsed then filled back up for pans then baking tray style things last.

They can be returned and recycled at any grocery store. Also... I have no idea when "garbage day" is... or even whether it *_has_* a certain day

Recycling In Britain varies from region to region depending on the recycling facilities available in each area. This can cause confusion when people move to a new area. e.g students. Ideally it would be the same throughout the UK but this would mean spending billions on new recycling facilities. Sadly a lot of stuff that's supposed to be recycled isn't in reality. e.g approximately half of the paper/cardboard sent to recycling is actually burnt in furnaces and a lot of plastic sent to be recycled is actually shipped abroad where's it's just dumped by unscupulous private contractors.

Where i am there are usually 2 wheelie bins (sometimes a 3rd one for garden waste which is brown bin,if they choose to pay for it) but mainly there is black for household waste, and they are very strict about no overflow to encourage less waste, then the green for recycling, basically everything can go into the same bin, cardboard, paper, glass, cans (not sure about aluminium (aluminum) and the rule here is you can put as much extra recycling out as you want as long as it's clearly visible that the contents is recyclable material. Oh and black bin is 1 week and green the next, which is why each is every 2 weeks. Colours and recycling requirements do vary by county though, i know in the part of Lancashire I've visited that their recycling bins are blue.

Lol it depends on where you live in the UK. I live in the north of England and everything just gets chucked into one big recycling bin but when I lived down south, you only get a small box that has to fit 2 weeks worth of recycling in and everything has to be sorted into separate bags before the recycling truck will take it. The washing up order I can totally relate to. There is an unspoken rule that you should do things in a set order ie glasses, cups, cutlery, plates, trays, pans etc. So it goes in order of how dirty something is. It means you also dont get food and grease on glasses. - should also point out in the UK the majority of people use washing up bowls in the sink and dont just run water constantly to wash things which seems a popular way to wash up in the USA- hence why its a bug bear when washing up as things soak in hot water first

I learned last year my NC town's recycling was being sold in bulk to a company in China that recycled it into things like usable plastic. (Mainly because recycling plants cost 20-30 million to build - as opposed to making a profit from our trash.) But that company stopped buying from us so now our town's recycling just goes to the dump. I'm kinda happy that it was changed because it feels like the emissions from a world-traveling barge of trash would do more damage than a local trash heap.

I used to live with someone who... didn't _quite_ do the washing up as well as I'd like. Similar story of tiny bits of food stuck to plates and forks. So, after they were done and left the stuff out to dry, I'd make sure I was the one to put them away and any cutlery or plates that didn't pass my inspection, _oh oops_ it's back in the sink now, _guess I'll have to wash it again now._ ...Eventually, I just took the duty of washing up for myself.

I have 3 bins and can also use a composter (UK). Normal waste (landfill), recycle (paper, plastic, glass, tins - mainly coke in my case), and garden waste. You have to be careful with garden waste since some common things (e.g. rhubarb leaves) can be poisonous so shouldn't be in there.

To 'top yourself' is a euphemism for taking your life. But, yes, I can relate to many of his rules. My main one is anything that comes into direct contact with your mouth must be washed first ie cutlery, glasses, cups, and anything glass must be shiny spotless.

The universities should also be educating the students that arrive new term. Our streets in UK are full of contaminated recycling bins so the bin men refuse to collect them, hence the build up of waste until picked up. It is confusing, I think we all need retelling.

It varies in the UK, I can re-cycle every week , rubbish/trash is collected every two, though they plan to collect rubbish every 4 now! I live alone so don't put out food waste, it would take ages to fill the box! And attract rats etc!

A lot of local councils are VERY strict on waste, only the bin is emptied - the lid must shut, it can't be leaking or cause any possible issue to safety - it must be placed in the right place or it doesn't get emptied... No extra containers are allowed!!! You get the idea.. plus here we have refuse (general bins) twice a month, on the other week its the plastic waste or the paper/cardboard (so they're monthly)...

@@daveofyorkshire301 haha I didn't call you insane Dave! I just know a lot of councils are extremely strict on refuse as you said, but quite a few of them (I guess not yours) will let you have extra recycling. They're trying to discourage excessive refuse by doing this, alongside reducing refuse collections and offering more recycling collections. P.s. _You're insane._

*I genuinely used to be as bad as Jon with the whole OCD thing so I can really relate to much of what he's half-joking/half-serious about. Not just the washing-up stuff. I still can't put socks in the washing machine unless I have the matching pair in my hands, and all the tins of soups, beans, tomatoes etc have to have the labels all lined up pointing the same way. They also have to be in date order with the longest 'use by' dates coming from the back of the cupboard to the front. I must admit though, I've never felt even the slightest urge to stab anyone who doesn't do things **_'my way'._** I think marrying Lucy helped Jon massively in his OCD, plus let's face it, you can't even think of being OCD when you've got young kids **_"helping"_** you with chores around the house... ahhh, bless their little cotton socks. But only if they're in matching pairs of course! LOL*

Now, in England, at least, we have to sort everything into; trash, general recycling (tins, hard plastic, cardboard), soft plastics, food waste and glass bottles. They don't want to spend money on hiring people to sort it, so people's lives get made more stressful.
