On this week's episode, we first join Jared Mills who takes us all the way back to 2013 when he self filmed harvesting one of his best bucks to date. Not only do we get to watch the great hunt again, Jared dives deep into how he was able to pull off such a high quality self filmed hunt. He goes through each phase and provides different tips along the way, that hopefully, will help you the next time you're out filming. Then we join Bill who has been out walking the farm finding sheds and unfortunately, two dead bucks he knows well.

This is absolutely awesome. Been following midwest whitetails for a long time and I always enjoy the tips they provide. Jared thank you for doing this, I have been trying to do self filming for the past few years and these tips help so much. I love everything about this and the humbleness you hear in your voice knowing its your passion just like many of the viewers. Thanks again.

Jared is definitely one of the best self-filmers out there. What I respect even more is that he constantly critiques himself to raise the bar even higher.

When Jared filmed his hunt on this video I had just managed to overcome what most folks that knew me thought was my death bed. I haven’t been deer hunting since and really miss setting in a tree stand enjoying the peace and tranquility of a hunt even if I didn’t get a shot. I still suffer from my ordeal in 2012 that was brought onto me by a simple surgery that went bad. If you hunt you need to be appreciative of your health and being able to enjoy that part of one of many of Gods creations. Thanks for the video!

Self filming cost me a few nice bucks through the years. It when it all comes together it’s really rewarding. I learn a lot by watching it over because you can catch little things that make a big difference👍 this is so awesome!!!

It's good that whitetails are a replenish-able resource, sometimes surprise us with their durability & other times with their unexpected demise. Thanks for the episode, also, self filming has cost me the largest buck of my life this season, in an high pressure area where such an opportunity may never happen again. For now I gave up filming the kill shots, & capture them on a bow mounted camera for the two bucks I shot this year. As usual I love your content & look forward to seeing more from you guys.

Great video and very informative. One tip...Your Safety harness tie off point or tree strap is too low. It should be at eye level or slightly higher. So when you sit and lean forward, the strap on your harness will be snug. This will prevent falling from the stand and possibly suffering Suspension Relief Trauma. Keep Up the Great Work!

Great video as always. How do you get the video off of multiple GoPros and the big camera all on one video? Could you point me in the right direction or maybe do a video on it. I’m not very tech savvy when it comes to things like this. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer

Hello Jared I understand exactly what your talking about the different camera angles of the hunt cause you're right on it I just want to ask you about your opinion here if the camera guy is sitting above to the left or right side of you in the stand that way the camera will see you and the deer all in one shot at once too but right before you take the shot on the deer he zooms in on it to where you can literally see the color in its eyes and that way you can see clearly about the kill spot too and as soon as you shot it he can zoom back out again and catch your response from gitting it done there too and Plus like your talking about too you can have another camera in the tree with you to for a second angle of view as well too but the main camera guy will catch it all from his angle if view too at the same time and then in the editing process you can combine the two and make it an awesome video of the whole thing then present it to the public to see it too have a great day now and I'll keep watching you know too here

Hey I have a question, I’m looking into getting a Sony a7iii so a mirrorless camera, what focal length lens would you want to run? Like a 28-75, or something longer like a 70-200? I’d say most video would be from 100 yards and closer

Not legal to take them off-site without a salvage tag. The game wardens here are pretty good about it, but technically, it is illegal to move the heads in Iowa without a salvage tag.

First thing you should have said is you cant film a hunt with just a gopro - too many people think filming hunts is that easy and sadly the industry is what suffers and the guys that put the effort in get screwed because every TDH wants to be "Field Staff" or "Sponsored" and companies dont have to invest in their filmers....
